Job Summary

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Team Member to join our vibrant culinary team within a care home setting. In this role, you will support the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to residents’ individual needs. You will play a key role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly, safely, and in line with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in meal preparation and cooking, ensuring all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Support the preparation and service of meals in line with IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) guidelines, ensuring residents with modified diets receive safe and appropriate meals.
  • Work with Apetito meals, following correct preparation, regeneration, and presentation procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including correct storage of food, equipment, and documentation.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines at all times to ensure the safe handling, preparation, and storage of food.
  • Assist in serving meals, helping to create a positive and dignified dining experience for residents.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider care and kitchen teams to meet residents’ dietary, cultural, and nutritional needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen experience or culinary training is preferred but not essential.
  • An understanding of food safety practices and regulations is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge or experience of IDDSI-modified diets is desirable (training can be provided).
  • Experience using Apetito meals or similar catering systems is beneficial.
  • Experience in a care home, healthcare, or catering environment is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine passion for food and a willingness to learn and develop within a care setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
