Job Summary

Brocklehurst Nursing Home, Manchester | Full-time, Permanent | £13.21 per hour

SureCare Group has been providing nursing care since 2003, guided by five values that shape every shift: Kind, Courageous, Curious, Accountable and Respectful.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Care Assistant to help lead care through the night at Brocklehurst. As the senior carer on shift, you'll be the nurse's right hand and the person the care team looks to — setting the standard for care, keeping the shift calm and organised, and making sure every resident is safe and well looked after through the night.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and supporting the night care team, allocating tasks and setting the tone for a calm, safe shift
  • Delivering and overseeing high-quality personal care that protects residents' dignity and comfort
  • Working closely with the night nurse — flagging concerns early and supporting the clinical response
  • Recognising when a resident isn't right and escalating promptly to the nurse on shift
  • Supporting the safe administration of medicines where trained and competency-assessed
  • Keeping care records accurate and up to date through the night
  • Delivering thorough handovers so nothing is lost between shifts
  • Guiding and supporting less experienced carers, and helping new starters find their feet
  • Working within CQC regulations and our policies at all times

What we're looking for

  • NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards it)
  • Solid experience in a care or nursing home setting, ideally including nights
  • Confident judgement — able to make a call, act on it and know when to escalate
  • Calm under pressure, and good at bringing that calm to the team
  • A natural leader who supports and develops the carers around them
  • Strong communication skills, with residents, families and the wider team
  • Reliable and present — nights depend on it

Why join us

Brocklehurst runs on teamwork, and nights are no exception — the nurse and care team back each other, and you won't be left to sink or swim. We're serious about progression too: real training and development, and clear routes to grow — whether that's building your clinical skills, moving into more senior care roles, or working towards nurse training over time. We'd rather grow our own than always recruit in.

Benefits

  • £13.21 per hour
  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Paid breaks
  • Ongoing training and development
