Based at our stunning, brand-new care home, Elm Lodge in Hartley Wintney, RG27 8JG. Newly opened, Elm Lodge is a 60-bedded care home providing residential care and offers a fantastic opportunity to set the foundations of an outstanding home.

We are looking for a full-time, reliable, caring Assistant Care Supervisor who wants to make a difference by contributing to providing the best care possible at all times. To support the Care Supervisor and care management team in delivering consistently high-quality, person-centred care to residents. The Assistant Care Supervisor provides daily operational support, assists in overseeing shift delivery, helps manage rotas and shift cover, and carries out designated duty manager responsibilities.
This role holds direct responsibility for delivering Moving & Handling (M&H) training and competency assessments across the home, supporting staff inductions, and ensuring high standards of safety, dignity, and regulatory compliance.
Starting salary £15.75 per hour. Alternate weekend working will be required. 42 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
1. Care & Resident Support
- Support the Care Supervisor and care staff in providing high-quality personal care that respects residents' dignity, privacy, and independence.
- Assist with medication administration as required, following company policy and under the direction of management.
- Take daily direction from the Care Supervisor regarding shift priorities and resident care requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Home Manager and Head of Care to identify and respond to residents' changing needs
2. Operational Support & Shift Leadership
- Assist the Care Supervisor in guiding, supporting, and monitoring Senior Carers and Care Assistants during shifts.
- Attend daily handover meetings and review the 24-hour communication log at the start of each shift to ensure seamless information sharing.
- Assist the Care Supervisor with rota management and provide essential operational shift cover during planned or unplanned staff absences.
- Work flexibly across all shift patterns—including days, nights, and alternating weekends with the Care Supervisor—to ensure consistent leadership across the home.
- Undertake pre-arranged Duty Manager responsibilities on assigned evenings, nights, and weekends.
3. Moving & Handling (M&H) Training & Staff Development
- Undertake, achieve, and maintain qualified Moving & Handling Trainer status.
- Deliver mandatory Moving & Handling induction training to all new care staff, assessing and signing off their competency before they work independently.
- Conduct regular Moving & Handling refresher training and practical competency assessments for all existing staff across the home in line with current legislation and best practice.
- Maintain complete, accurate training records and submit regular compliance reports to the management team.
- Actively monitor moving and handling practices on shift; identify poor or unsafe techniques immediately and deliver prompt corrective instruction.
- Support the broader induction and onboarding of new care staff until they demonstrate full confidence and competence.
- Assist with other mandatory training modules, including MCM training, as required by management.
4. Care Planning, Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Assist the Care Supervisor in creating, reviewing, and updating non-clinical care plans to ensure care staff have accurate instructions.
- Conduct routine audits of daily care notes to ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and reflective of care provided.
- Monitor care standards on shift and report any practice concerns or training needs to the Care Supervisor and management team.
- Promote a strong culture of safeguarding, dignity, respect, and continuous service improvement.
5. General Responsibilities
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and organisational matters in compliance with Data Protection/GDPR legislation.
- Understand and comply with all relevant Health & Safety, Employment, and Social Care legislation.
- Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, and professional standards at all times.
- Participate actively in regular formal supervision, performance appraisals, and team meetings.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties aligned with the role as requested by the Care Supervisor, Head of Care, or Home Manager.
Working Requirements & Shift Patterns
The Assistant Care Supervisor must demonstrate flexibility and reliability to meet operational needs, including:
- Day shifts, night shifts, and weekend rotas.
- Alternating weekend coverage alongside/in rotation with the Care Supervisor.
- Pre-arranged Duty Manager responsibilities.
- Conducting practical training sessions across various shift times to accommodate all care staff.
