At Aurem Care, we're looking for a dedicated Domestic and Laundry Assistant to join our team and help ensure our residents enjoy a comfortable, hygienic, and homely environment every day.
About the RoleOur Domestic Assistants are essential members of the care home team. You will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the home, helping to create a safe and pleasant environment for residents, visitors, and colleagues.
Key ResponsibilitiesDomestic Assistant:
- Carry out all cleaning duties as directed by the Head Housekeeper.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is used safely and stored correctly.
- Follow all infection prevention and control procedures.
- Adhere to COSHH regulations and safe working practices.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately at all times.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, and individual needs of residents.
- Re-stock cleaning trolleys and maintain clean, organised storage areas.
- Support the wider housekeeping team with additional duties as required.
Laundry Assistant:
- Ensure compliance with Guidelines for Laundry and Infection
- When working in the laundry Infection Control measures must be complied with at all times, gloves and aprons must be worn for loading dirty/soiled linen into
- Ensure cuts are covered with suitable plaster/dressing.
- Infected/soiled linen to be collected and laundered in Red Alginate bags.
- Ensure pockets have been checked to avoid unwanted items going through the laundry
- Ensure familiarisation with Company’s Policies and
- Ensure that Infection Control & Prevention policy, regulations and guidelines are adhered to.
- All breakages and breakdowns to be reported to the Home Manager or Person-in-Charge immediately to ensure any necessary action can be
- Any clothing repairs to be undertaken or reported to Keyworker or
- Check clothing is marked with Residents name to avoid loss or wrongly
- Any other ad hoc duties within the role
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have previous housekeeping or cleaning experience.
- Be reliable, hardworking, and take pride in your work.
- Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Have good communication and organisational skills.
- Be able to prioritise tasks effectively and work efficiently.
- Demonstrate a caring and respectful approach towards older people.
- 28 hours per week, covering 4 days per week
- Shifts: 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Includes weekend working on a rota basis
- Rate of pay: £12.71
- 28 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata for part-time contracts)
