My mum became a resident at kenwood from Aug until Nov, a short period of time as mum was quite unwell, the peace of mind the family had was enormous knowing mum was being cared for superbly, lovely & helpful staff made mum's stay there a very comfortable time, an extremely well run establishment
from top to bottom.

My mother was cared for at Kenwood Care Home prior to her recent death in January 2024. The care staff there are great, I witnessed genuine care and compassion for her. It was reassuring to see how so many of the staff built up a personal relationship with her during a difficult time as her health declined.
The whole family is pleased that she went to a happy home, with professional caring staff, who go above and beyond to keep people happy, healthy and entertained. Shane.

I wish to express my gratitude for the care shown my father during his time at Kenwood. I especially want to thank the General Manager and staff, who have exceeded expectations. Since his arrival, they have shown support, respect and kindness, and his health and well-being are much improved. He participates
in activities when able, is engaged with people and events, and interacts fully with residents and staff. The staff focus on residents’ best interests in all endeavours. New residents complete a lifestyle form, indicating their food preferences, hobbies, and interests. Meals and activities are planned in advance, so residents always know what to expect. Rooms are spacious and well-designed, with excellent amenities and create an environment suitable for seniors. All areas are clean and well-maintained and the building is safe and secure. The staff also provide family members with a progress report on the activities, health and well-being of their relative.

My experience is one of kindness and care. Kenwood is outstanding. I've not seen my mum so contented in years. Everyone is smiling and cheerful. The attention to her needs is the best. They are professional and warm at the same time. I feel part of the team - I feel I have friends at Kenwood. The level
of hygiene is high. Never an unpleasant odour. Mum was sent there 2 years ago with only days to live. I wish you could see her now - Kenwood has put new life in my mum. Can't thank them enough.

My aunt had excellent care and was very happy in the last years of her life. She had dementia and was very frail but always had lots of praise for the staff and said she was very happy until her passing in May .
My aunt made many friends with the other patients and staff and was well looked after,
any problems were always reported straight to me and investigated.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.400)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.400) out of 10 for Kenwood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Kenwood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kenwood Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2024

My name is Edith Mansfield, originally from Zambia, Africa, I am a seasoned Care Manager with over 20 years of dedicated experience in the field of care. My passion for helping others and making a positive impact on people's lives has been the driving force throughout my career.

With a strong commitment to continuous learning, I hold three postgraduate degrees in Marketing and Business Management, a postgraduate certificate in Dementia Studies, and various leadership qualifications in the field of care. This extensive academic background underpins my approach to the management and delivery of care services, ensuring they are both effective and compassionate.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, compassion, and a profound understanding of the needs of those under my care. My ability to foster a supportive and nurturing environment for residents, their loved ones, and staff alike has earned me respect and admiration within the care community and among various stakeholders.

In 2022, I was honoured with the Carer of the Year award by a Housing Association, selected from among 2,300 employees in their care department. While I view this achievement as a testament to the hard work of the entire team, I am humbled by the recognition and proud of the positive impact we have made together.

One of the greatest satisfactions I get from my role is knowing that I have made a positive difference in someone's life, no matter how small. My leadership is centred around an open-door policy, being approachable, and fostering collaborative engagements with residents, their loved ones, and staff. I firmly believe that involving people in decision-making for their care and support allows us to better meet their individual needs and provide holistic, person-centred care.

Outside of my professional life, I am dedicated to my family and friends. I enjoy meeting new people, listening to music, reading various books, and spending quality time with loved ones. Exploring new cultures and engaging in activities that promote personal growth and well-being are also passions of mine.

At Kenwood Care Home, my goal is to lead with empathy and excellence, ensuring that our residents receive the highest standard of care in a nurturing and supportive environment.
