My mother has been a resident of Kenwood for over a year. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and I feel that mum has been well looked after. There seems to be a low turn around of staff which is indicative of the fact that it is a happy and well-run home. Mum has a lovely large and light-filled
room and we are always made to feel welcome.

Our aunt has been a resident in Kenwood for 18 months and is always saying how happy she is with her care and the kindness of the staff.
When we visit she is always clean and well cared for. The rooms are clean and tidy and unlike some care homes there is no odour in the building. We feel very fortunate
that we have found the best place to care for her.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My grandmother was well looked after and she formed a very close relationship with the manager. My gran had dementia but it was nice that she would let her sit in her office and talk to her on occasions and really took a special interest in her. When she was in hospital, the manager would visit my gran
in the evenings, which for me highlights what a kind and genuine person she is. These small actions had a big effect on my nan and along with the other staff it made her time at Kenwood very comfortable. I'm happy that I chose somewhere that was well managed and took good care of her.

My mother was resident in Kenwood Care Home for six and a half years. The care she received was absolutely wonderful. For as long as she was able, she made all her own choices and voiced any opinions she might have. She had a very good relationship with the staff, as did we, her family. We were always
kept informed as to her wellbeing and were always consulted on any major issues. They were wonderful with her, we trusted them completely and they never ever let her down. Sadly Mum passed away on 7th of October 2015 but we will never forget these people or what they did her.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.400)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.400) out of 10 for Kenwood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Kenwood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kenwood Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2024

My name is Edith Mansfield, originally from Zambia, Africa, I am a seasoned Care Manager with over 20 years of dedicated experience in the field of care. My passion for helping others and making a positive impact on people's lives has been the driving force throughout my career.

With a strong commitment to continuous learning, I hold three postgraduate degrees in Marketing and Business Management, a postgraduate certificate in Dementia Studies, and various leadership qualifications in the field of care. This extensive academic background underpins my approach to the management and delivery of care services, ensuring they are both effective and compassionate.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, compassion, and a profound understanding of the needs of those under my care. My ability to foster a supportive and nurturing environment for residents, their loved ones, and staff alike has earned me respect and admiration within the care community and among various stakeholders.

In 2022, I was honoured with the Carer of the Year award by a Housing Association, selected from among 2,300 employees in their care department. While I view this achievement as a testament to the hard work of the entire team, I am humbled by the recognition and proud of the positive impact we have made together.

One of the greatest satisfactions I get from my role is knowing that I have made a positive difference in someone's life, no matter how small. My leadership is centred around an open-door policy, being approachable, and fostering collaborative engagements with residents, their loved ones, and staff. I firmly believe that involving people in decision-making for their care and support allows us to better meet their individual needs and provide holistic, person-centred care.

Outside of my professional life, I am dedicated to my family and friends. I enjoy meeting new people, listening to music, reading various books, and spending quality time with loved ones. Exploring new cultures and engaging in activities that promote personal growth and well-being are also passions of mine.

At Kenwood Care Home, my goal is to lead with empathy and excellence, ensuring that our residents receive the highest standard of care in a nurturing and supportive environment.
