My mum went into respite for a few weeks after experiencing multiple falls and hospital visits whilst in her own home. She has really thrived during her stay and the team have been fantastic. Putting my trust in people to look after my lovely mum has been really difficult, but to see her so content
and relaxed has been such a relief.

My wife spent 4 years in care with Alzheimer's which was never going to get better. She had very good care that I witnessed, as I could only visit once or twice per week. A very strong lady to survive this long.
Overall, her care was sufficient for the disease she had. The room was always clean and
tidy, the food quality was excellent, and the hard working staff were brilliant.

This is a very comfortable home and my mother is well cared for. My mother has seen the nurses caring for difficult residents with patience and care. The home provides services like hairdressing, nails, hand and foot massages. They have a full holistic approach. It does not feel like a care home and
we are like a family. I am in my 90s and am having a wonderful time.

My Grandad went into Hillcrest and decided this himself as he wanted company and more help with things. We do not live close by so couldn't visit often. We was unaware at first he went into a home but when we did find out the manager and staff was so supportive and updated us on everything. We went
over to visit and the staff was caring helpful and just overall great. Grandad seems happy and content at the home. As we are not close Hillcrest is his family and company he has been missing. With us not being close staff email me and call me with updates on grandad and I appreciate this so much. The staff don't judge and understand we cant visit that much, we wish we could but with kids, working and life being so busy and we are far away it's hard. Highly recommend this place. As long as my grandad is happy we are happy and getting all the support and help he needs. Thank you all Hillcrest staff, manager, cook, house keepers, handymen etc.

Clean and comfortable. However there is not enough interaction with residents. Majority sitting and staring into space. I also disagree with residents being shouted at and treated like naughty children. On my last visit the carers in the lounge disappeared and we were locked in without a career in sight.
I find this unacceptable. The residents were panicking so I tried to open the door, which set off the alarms. I finally got out.

not complained about his treatment in this nursing home.

The Oaks Care Home

from Suzie J (Friend of Resident) published on 31 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I recently visited The Oaks Care Home, and I have to say, it's one of the most welcoming places I've come across. From the moment you walk in, there's a warmth about it-not just from the decor but from the staff, who are genuinely kind, attentive, and happy in their work. That makes all the difference.

The

home is well maintained and thoughtfully considered, with lovely little details that set it apart from the usual care home feel. Small, carefully designed spaces create a more homely and engaging environment, rather than something overly clinical. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into making it a comfortable and uplifting place.

And the food-absolutely delicious. You don't often expect that in a care home, but clearly, they do things properly here.

It's a place that feels warm, well-run, and full of care in every sense of the word. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Reply from Manford Ncube, Manager at The Oaks Care Home

Thank you for sharing your experience at The Oaks Care Home! It's wonderful to hear how welcoming and well-run the home is, with staff who are kind, attentive, and genuinely happy in their roles. A warm, thoughtfully designed environment makes such a difference, and it's great to know we have created a homely feel rather than a clinical one. Your recommendation speaks volumes, and it's reassuring to know that we are a care home that truly prioritise the comfort, dignity, and well-being our residents.

Dad's been here for a year and from the first his care has been exemplary. The staff, whatever their role go above and beyond; be it medical or personal care, dietry assistance, greeting, answering queries of all kinds. Every staff member is cheerful and helpful. Since beginning this, Dad has passed
away. The night staff helped and comforted us so well and looked after Dad's last hours like family. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt words during what must be an incredibly difficult time. We are deeply sorry for your loss and extend our sincerest condolences to you and your family. It means the world to us to hear that your father received such compassionate and exemplary care during his time with us. Our staff strives to go above and beyond in every aspect of their roles, and it is truly humbling to know that their efforts made a meaningful difference for your father and your family. We are especially touched to hear that the night staff provided comfort and care during his final hours, treating him and your family with the love and respect they would show their own. Your kind words will be shared with the entire team, as they serve as a reminder of why we do what we do. We are honoured to have been part of your father's journey and to have supported your family during such a profound time.
