Eric, my 95 year old father, was treated with care and dignity throughout his short stay (approximately six weeks). There was a warm, safe feeling at The Oaks, and the staff wre always attentive to the needs of Eric and his family. I would recommend the home to potential new residents and their family.
The oaks was always kept very clean and smelt fresh, unlike some other homes that we visited.

Kenwood Care Home

Mum has been in Kenwood for a number of months now. She has deteriorated quite quickly but I have found that Edith and all her staff have responded to her changing needs quickly and with care and sympathy, both towards us the family and my mum. All the staff, without exception are friendly and cheerful.
The care mum receives is good.On two occasions Edith has spotted Mums deteriorating health very early and got her the appropriate medication really quickly before mum deteriorated too far. Mum will be 100 in a few weeks and I think that is partly due to the care she is receiving at Kenwood.
We initially largely chose Kenwood for geographical reasons but I can honestly say I have no regrets at all. I think they do their best by their residents in a respectful and kind way even when faced with very tricky situations with some difficult characters!
Reply from Edith Mansfield, Care Home Manger at Kenwood Care HomeDear N,

Thank you ever so much for this feedback, we are so humbled and honoured that you entrusted us with your lovely mother's care. We are so happy that we are able to make a small difference in your mother's wellbeing and care. We so much look forward to the 100th year birthday party.

Many thanks and Best wishes.

The care home needs the current manager to stay instead of being on an interim basis Leadership over the past two years has been poor. The only way forward is to have the current manager in place for the future for the home.

My mother stayed at Kilburn Care Home for three months for convalescence, and I couldn't be more grateful for the care she received. The home was always exceptionally clean and well maintained, which gave us real peace of mind from the start.
What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Every member
of the team showed such kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. They looked after my mother so well - not just meeting her needs, but really taking time to get to know her, support her, and brighten her days. Their warmth made a huge difference to her recovery, and she will honestly miss them now she's returning home.
Kilburn Care Home made a challenging period so much easier for all of us, and I'm very thankful for the dedication of the whole team.

My wife has been in residence since 2020 with early onset Alzheimer's. At every stage, as her needs have changed, the care and support both to her and her family has been exemplary. Most of the senior management, nursing and departmental head roles are still filled by people from when she moved in.
This has helped create a wonderful family atmosphere amongst the resident and the relative groups. The quality of food and choice is legendary amongst the relatives. In Jan 2026, The Red House still provides the best possible care for my wife. This is so reassuring for all her family.

My wife has complex needs as she has early onset dementia, so she is more active than typical care home residents. I chose Glebe House for her, (initially for respite and then for permanent residence once she was no longer safe at home) because of the atmosphere of the place and the commitment and caring
attitude of the staff. She has been a resident for half a year and I have not been disappointed. The management (Sam and Abena) set the right example in terms of their approach. The food is very good and varied. It's an old building but has more character than more modern places. There is a large garden and conservatory which are good for residents in the summer.

My husband has been living in the care home since December 2024. He is well looked after and he has built up a good relationship with the carers. He did experience some difficulties when he first moved in but these have now been resolved. There is a positive ambience and a very friendly greeting from
staff when the family and grandchildren visit.
The home has undergone refurbishment in the communal areas but Johns room is long overdue redecoration. It is a good size which he needs for equipment to manoeuvre him around. However, better lighting and extra power sockets are would be helpful to allow him more comfort as he spends a lot of time in his room.
Overall, we are extremely grateful for the support that he gets in Kilburn.

My brother had been at Kilburn for nearly a year before he became End of Life. The home improved considerably during the time he was there and the communication was excellent. The staff genuinely cared about him although sometimes it seemed there were not enough of them for the type of residents they

The nursing care at Kilburn Care home has been exceptional for my mother. Her medical needs are complex, and the clinical team is consistently attentive, proactive, and highly professional. Communication with the family has been excellent; we are always kept in the loop regarding her health and care

My father has been in the home now for a couple of years he had a fall last year and was not told about this I found out from a family member weeks after it happened
Although he does get good care but would like him to be joining the activities this year would be great as some of your activities my
dad would like especially the ice rink as he uses to be a speed skater
Reply from Angela Airlie, Home Manager at Aaron HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really glad to hear that your father is receiving good care, but we're very sorry that you weren't informed about his fall last year, our protocol is to inform a residents Power of attorney of all incidents but we can not comment on how this is deiminated to other members of the family.
We also appreciate your thoughts about activities. It's lovely to hear about your father's background as a speed skater, and we agree that staying involved in activities he enjoys is so important. Our activities team is always happy to look at residents' interests and see how we can encourage greater participation, including trips or events related to things they've loved in the past. please do not hesitate to contact us if you feel here are any other gaps in activities.
