Since Mum became a resident of Hillcrest nearly two years ago, she has been very well cared for. All the staff have been very caring and respectful to Mum and the rest of the residents.
All medical issues are dealt with promptly. Overall, it's a lovely residential home, and mum is happy there.

I am quite happy with the environment for Mum. I am not aware of what activities are held or their frequency. Staff are very friendly and compassionate. The lift is poor and frequently breaks down or has operational issues, which can be problematic for Mum and visitors.

We visited my friend last Friday (she had a weeks respite). She was very happy and her room was lovely facing the garden with birds chirping in the tree's. I asked for an extra chair and quickly someone got one. My friend said she had enjoyed her meal's and liked chatting to other resident's in the
dining room. Everywhere was very clean and the front entrance nice and welcoming. A nice atmosphere and friendly staff too.

The staff are so friendly. They try and interact with all the residents as much as they can.
They have different activities to keep everyone happy and get them involved. They have a very difficult job to do and have the patience of a saint to do this job.
They treat everyone the same and show no
favouritism towards residents.
Very happy with the service.

Westbank Care Home

from Christina H (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 8 April 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
Mum was in bed and did not want to get up, just to sit in a chair. Mum seemed unusually low in her mood. We asked when Mum was last up and she had not been up for a week, just to go to the toilet. Mum had been sleeping in the same clothes as she wore during yesterday's visit. We asked that further strategies
be used to get up, but staff said they can't "force her". We got Mum up and staff changed her bedding, which was much needed. There was a bed-changing chart on the wall, but no dates in for February. There is a lot of new staff who seemed unfamiliar with Mum's ways (she has been there for 2 years). We felt disappointed with our visit to Westbank and the care Mum receives.

Since my mum came to the Gelbe House in June 2024, my mum has improved, and despite her dementia, I feel my mum is as well and as best as she can be. This is down to the staff at Glebe House, who have cared for and looked after my mum with her needs that are met. The entertainment team here also puts
on a great range of interactive activities involving the residents and family.

Red House staff continues to provide kind and thoughtful care to my frail mother. Last March, they helped us to celebrate her 90th birthday with a specially baked cake containing mum's favourite eclairs. The staff know that mum does not eat well but always try to give her the food that she likes and
give her plenty of time. Thank you to all of you for caring about her wellbeing and doing your best every day.

My mum has resided in Glebe House for nearly four years. She has had excellent care throughout that time. The staff treat her with dignity, kindness and patience. I see my mum several times a week and she is always relaxed and contented.
Communication with the staff is easy; we have confidence in them
- they listen to us and let us know anything concerning our mum. We feel supported, too, as relatives and are very grateful for all that is done.

We are very grateful to the lovely staff (carers and nurses) and amazing care home manager Edith at Kenwood who have provided excellent and consistent care for my father for >2.5 years. There is warmth and empathy in the hearts of all the staff here, they truly do care! Edith manages medical matters
and issues (including confusion arising from father's dementia) with the same level of concern, care and thoroughness that we would do for our own father. Father is well adjusted and calls his room 'my place'. He is always clean with no bad smells, clean shaven, hair trimmed, nails clipped. Clothing, rooms, hallways and common areas are always clean. Fun parties with live music are held - a great opportunity to meet other residents and their families. Father's weight has remained stable since admission. We visit father often and are always welcomed warmly. We're so grateful to have chanced upon Kenwood after seeing many other homes and know that father is in great hands here!
Reply from Edith Mansfield, Care Home Manger at Kenwood Care HomeDear G,

Thank you for trusting us to be of service to your wonderful father in-law, it is always a pleasure of ours to do the best we can each day as we provide the service.

Thank you for all your support towards all of us a team at Kenwood, we are grateful.

Best wishes.

Although Westbank Care Home has been satisfactory in looking after Mum, it is due to the arrival of Claire & Chelsea that the standards are now going up. The staff seem happier and with new levels of care, expectations and the importance of consistency, we are pleased that Mum will be even happier.
Time, of course, will tell but we're off to a good start with new management team, increase in staff & replacement of those not enjoying the new 'regime'! Thank you for all the work so far.
