The staff are so friendly. They try and interact with all the residents as much as they can.
They have different activities to keep everyone happy and get them involved. They have a very difficult job to do and have the patience of a saint to do this job.
They treat everyone the same and show no
favouritism towards residents.
Very happy with the service.

Since my mum came to the Gelbe House in June 2024, my mum has improved, and despite her dementia, I feel my mum is as well and as best as she can be. This is down to the staff at Glebe House, who have cared for and looked after my mum with her needs that are met. The entertainment team here also puts
on a great range of interactive activities involving the residents and family.

My mum has resided in Glebe House for nearly four years. She has had excellent care throughout that time. The staff treat her with dignity, kindness and patience. I see my mum several times a week and she is always relaxed and contented.
Communication with the staff is easy; we have confidence in them
- they listen to us and let us know anything concerning our mum. We feel supported, too, as relatives and are very grateful for all that is done.
Reply from Joyce Chick, Clinical Lead, Interim Manager at Glebe HouseThank you for your kind words and we are grateful for your review; we strive to give the best service and always want to improve. Thank you again and all the best to you and your family.

The team at Glebe Care home are doing a fantastic job at caring for my mother in very difficult circumstances. Always keeping the family updated with any relevant updates and sharing social events.

The risk they take when safeguarding vulnerable patients is no small thing and is very much appreciated.

My wife has complex needs as she has early onset dementia, so she is more active than typical care home residents. I chose Glebe House for her, (initially for respite and then for permanent residence once she was no longer safe at home) because of the atmosphere of the place and the commitment and caring
attitude of the staff. She has been a resident for half a year and I have not been disappointed. The management (Sam and Abena) set the right example in terms of their approach. The food is very good and varied. It's an old building but has more character than more modern places. There is a large garden and conservatory which are good for residents in the summer.

We visited my Mum on her birthday, and the staff were very happy to accommodate us as a family in the conservatory. They made sure that we all had seats and had some family time with mum.
Mum has been here for about 18 months, and we are very happy with the care and support that is provided. We feel
that Mum is in the best place and is well looked after, given the circumstances. Thanks to everyone at Glebe House.

My neighbour is a resident of this nursing home. I deliver mail to him. He can be a difficult person yet seems very happy where he is. I can see that he is well fed. He dislikes noise so the staff allow him to sit in the dining room to watch T.V. He has always been a person who complains yet he has
not complained about his treatment in this nursing home.

Following the recommendation of the local hospital my husband transferred to Glebe House in July 2023.
The longstanding dedicated approachable management team ably support a kind, committed and consistent team of nurses carers, housekeepers and catering staff.
They all constantly strive to ensure
that my husband receives the highest level of care possible to meet his ongoing and developing needs. The relationship built with my family is positive and appreciated as support is needed in difficult times.

My mum has been a resident for over 3 years now, I visit my mum twice a week, in her time there she's always been treated with respect and compassion and patience and been well catered for, the staff have been friendly and helpful to both of us and I've always treated with kindness on my visits by the
staff.
If there are any problems the home has communicated to me quickly and clearly and on her special day they've made a fuss out of her.
Feel lucky that she came to Glebe House.

Glebe House is like a big family where all staff show such care, respect and affection for all residents. There is a genuine willingness to do everything possible to give all the very best quality of life.
Great effort is put into providing enjoyable activities for residents including singing and
music sessions, arts and crafts and games. The menu is marvellous and varied and residents can order whatever they would like to eat. Special cakes are made for all residents' birthdays.
All staff show kindness and understanding for residents needing extra emotional support. Staff are patient and treat everyone with dignity.
Cleanliness is high on the agenda and the housekeeper is really meticulous in ensuring a very high standard of hygiene in all areas.
The manager is always ready to listen to concerns and takes action immediately. My sister and I are so pleased to have found such an excellent home for our Mum. She is happy and content and enjoys the company of those around her.

My mum has been at Glebe House for nearly 3 years. She had been at a previous home before that and hadn't enjoyed it so much. This was because she needed extra nursing care due to delusional behaviour and being quite paranoid.
Once she moved to Glebe House she became much calmer and happier in her
environment.
The care from all of the staff has been excellent caring, professional, and genuine.
I would definitely recommend Glebe House for the care of vulnerable loved ones.

My father was moved to Glebe House for physio and rehabilitation after a loss of mobility resulting in a short hospital stay. The care home itself is a lovely calm environment. The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. They have gone the extra mile to understand my dad's needs - asking lots of
questions and helping with many things so that he is as comfortable as possible. Any time the family has had a query or a request we have contacted the home and they have acted upon it right away. On top of all of this the staff are very nice to be around and create a caring, loving and fun environment for everybody. I've visited a number of care homes and Glebe House stands out from the crowd.

I can never thank Glebe House Nursing Home enough for their care of my mother in her final days and for my family. They were so respectful and caring to my mother and supportive of me, her daughter. I was allowed to stay in my mother's room in her final days and hours and I, and my family, wanted for
nothing, allowing me to just concentrate on being there for my mother. My mother was a resident there for four years. The staff became my second family.

The home is comfortable, friendly and well kept. The staff are always helpful and kind but there's not enough staff especially to get the residents out into the lovely gardens.
The food can be good but individual need/wants were not always available only when asked for, different/more interesting
food is given (it seems).

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.634)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.634) out of 10 for Glebe House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.784 for Glebe House is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 162 Ratings = 4.784
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glebe House is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
