The Red House is an excellent care home, and I am very satisfied with the care provided for my Aunt. The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Everyone is kind and helpful, and the food here is of exceptional quality, catering for individual needs. There are planned activities for
residents and visitors are made very welcome. The management team work hard to provide an excellent service. Thank you, Red House.

Red House staff continues to provide kind and thoughtful care to my frail mother. Last March, they helped us to celebrate her 90th birthday with a specially baked cake containing mum's favourite eclairs. The staff know that mum does not eat well but always try to give her the food that she likes and
give her plenty of time. Thank you to all of you for caring about her wellbeing and doing your best every day.

My wife has been in residence since 2020 with early onset Alzheimer's. At every stage, as her needs have changed, the care and support both to her and her family has been exemplary. Most of the senior management, nursing and departmental head roles are still filled by people from when she moved in.
This has helped create a wonderful family atmosphere amongst the resident and the relative groups. The quality of food and choice is legendary amongst the relatives. In Jan 2026, The Red House still provides the best possible care for my wife. This is so reassuring for all her family.

I come here to visit every 2 weeks to see my auntie. When I come in, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, it's always so homely, and they are so good and kind to the residents. It's clean and inviting. My auntie felt happy when she moved in. I would definitely recommend the Red House to everyone.

A dear family member has been at Red House for 9 months, and in that time, she has flourished. The care provided by the team is exceptional, always with a smile and a kind word. They manage to create a lovely, homely atmosphere, and their kindness and compassion shine through. Residents are treated
as individuals, with respect and dignity. Meals, personal care, safety, etc., are all well done. No hesitation in recommending the Red House.

Dad seems to me to be settled and satisfied with the care he is receiving in The Red House. I think he would like to be taken out more often, if only to local amenities. I believe that the communications to relatives could be improved. I also request that Dad be notified when I am due to visit, but
I'm not convinced he always knows that I am visiting. On the whole, he is being well looked after, and he seems happy with his care.

This is a very comfortable home and my mother is well cared for. My mother has seen the nurses caring for difficult residents with patience and care. The home provides services like hairdressing, nails, hand and foot massages. They have a full holistic approach. It does not feel like a care home and
we are like a family. I am in my 90s and am having a wonderful time.

All staff are extremely friendly, helpful and caring. Food is excellent (I have had lunch there with my father several times). Staff made a huge effort to enable us to take my father to the Remembrance Day Cenotaph march past. Any medical or dental issues are sorted very competently by their staff,
always keeping us well informed. I am not surprised that they have an outstanding rating.

My father in law has been with you for 4 years now, he seems very happy and content. He feels comfortable inviting people to visit him, know they will be welcomed and often offered tea and biscuits. He is treated with respect and dignity, there always seems a lot of staff around who are attentive to
the resident'd needs. The food is good with lots of choice. The Red House are very good at keep us informed if there are any changes in his health or dental needs.

My mother is unwell this week due to a long-term medical condition and is receiving excellent care from the staff at The Red House. We are kept informed of every change to her condition, staff make time to update us on every visit, and Mum is being treated with dignity and respect. She is calm, well-fed
and is being made as comfortable as possible. Thanks to all involved.

The Red House was my mother's home for nearly 2 years. She had Alzheimer's and died last month. My family and I spent a lot of time at the home and were able to intimately see how wonderful the home truly is.
The staff are motivated and professional. Each resident is treated and known as an individual.
Their care is thoughtfully tailored to their needs. They are part of a family.
This is an ethos set by the manager and carried through with kindness and smiles by everyone.
As a relative, I also felt looked after and considered.
Staff are continually kept up to date with appropriate care practices and records are well kept and available. Safety is paramount.
The chefs are fabulous. They take care to know the favourites and diet of each person and will go to great lengths to provide enjoyable nutritious food, especially for those less keen to eat.
Staff always take care to have a chat, give a smile, hold a hand, sing a song or have a dance with a resident. I cannot recommend it enough.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.680)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.680) out of 10 for Aurem Care (The Red House) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.705 for Aurem Care (The Red House) is calculated as follows: ( (167 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.705
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aurem Care (The Red House) is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
