We were very worried about putting my Mum in The Red House nursing home because she was a very quiet and private lady, but we need not have been. The staff at the home provided such a wonderful caring and nurturing atmosphere that she truly felt at home and when I left her after a visit I knew that
she would be safe.

Thanks to everyone at The Red House our final months with Mum were very happy and peaceful and we have many good memories of the time we spent with her there.

The Red House is a 'home from home' for the residents. All the staff seem to be able to cope admirably with the residents, some of whom are definitely somewhat difficult! Nursing is extremely kind and sympathetic and there always seems to be sufficient staff to cope with each residents' needs. The food
is excellent, varied and each resident chooses their own menu. Rooms are small but adequate. The activities schedule is superb, with a major themed day each month and both summer and Christmas parties for the families.

I have been visiting a friend in The Red House for over a year. The resident has settled very well and adjusted well to the huge change in her lifestyle.

The staff are very caring and respectful to residents. The activities director provides amazing regular daily activities and many extra celebrations

of birthdays, special holidays and events. I cannot speak highly enough of The Red House.

The Red House is a very welcoming home. Staff are always friendly and helpful. My friend has nothing but praise for the way she is treated and she has settled in well. There seem to be different activities on each day to meet all needs and also entertainers from outside. The atmosphere is always cheerful
and friendly.

Exceptional care and concern shown by all members of staff to my mother-in-law who, at times, can be very challenging. They treat her with dignity at all times although her behaviour at times is extremely difficult. All the team are amazing.

Mum was accepted very quickly and efficiently, after initially visiting the home, to see if she liked it and fitted the home's criteria. Staff are friendly and helpful and seem to 'go the extra mile!'. Management extremely helpful and accommodating.

Having always promised our 86 year old father that he could remain in his home for the rest of his life, it was a devastating realisation that we were not going to be able to honour that promise, due to his rapidly failing health. As soon as we entered The Red House, we knew this was the home for dad.
The management and caregiving staff listened to all our concerns exhibiting professionalism, medical knowledge and an abundance of kindness. The facility is always kept clean and attractive but more importantly, the residents are so well cared for and treated with such respect and dignity. They are always brought down to the conservatory to join stimulating activities aimed at mental, physical and emotional enhancement. Sadly, our dad is unable to communicate, walk or feed himself, requiring 24/7 care, yet we find him sitting smiling and looking relaxed in the conservatory daily. The greatest testament to the home is the residents always telling you how kind the staff are!

My sister in law seems really happy here and has settled down very well.
Unfortunately, she needs quite a lot of attention and is being looked after really well.
Her personal cleanliness is really taken care of, her hair always looks good and she is always dressed nicely.
The atmosphere here is excellent
and the staff are always welcoming and helpful.

My friend, who is a client at the Red House, is happy at the Red House and feels at home, often referring to his 'family'.
He receives excellent nursing care which is well managed. The carers always respect his dignity, especially when carrying out personal care.
Activities are well thought about
and varied, making the day more interesting. There are special days throughout the year, birthdays, Easter, Christmas and summer parties etc, where family and friends can attend to be part of the celebrations.

I find visiting my brother a very pleasant exchange. The staff are so sweet and helpful and kind to all the patients, nothing too much trouble.
The food is very well cooked with plenty of choice. It is nicely served with clean table cloths and they can take their time, no one rushes anyone.

My husband has been a resident of The Red House care home since October 2016. I am comforted by the fact that he is content and considers the staff and residents as his family. I think that says it all. It has a pleasant and friendly atmosphere of the staff are welcoming.

The residents all appear comfortable, happy and well cared for. All staff are welcoming, polite and attentive. The food is of a very high standard and all residents requirements are met. The home feels like one big family and all members of staff partake in monthly theme days organised by an excellent
activities co-ordinator. Daily activities provided for all residents. Staff always willing and have a good understanding of dementia care. Wheelchair users always kept comfortable. Altogether an excellent care home with dedicated staff.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.740)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.740) out of 10 for Aurem Care (The Red House) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.740 for Aurem Care (The Red House) is calculated as follows: ( (184 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 235 Ratings = 4.74
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aurem Care (The Red House) is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
