Overall Experience
The Red House was my mother's home for nearly 2 years. She had Alzheimer's and died last month. My family and I spent a lot of time at the home and were able to intimately see how wonderful the home truly is.
The staff are motivated and professional. Each resident is treated and known as an individual. Their care is thoughtfully tailored to their needs. They are part of a family.
This is an ethos set by the manager and carried through with kindness and smiles by everyone.
As a relative, I also felt looked after and considered.
Staff are continually kept up to date with appropriate care practices and records are well kept and available. Safety is paramount.
The chefs are fabulous. They take care to know the favourites and diet of each person and will go to great lengths to provide enjoyable nutritious food, especially for those less keen to eat.

Staff always take care to have a chat, give a smile, hold a hand, sing a song or have a dance with a resident. I cannot recommend it enough.

We are very pleased with the care that our mother is receiving at The Red House. In particular, we have been impressed by the ratio of staff to residents, which means that no one is left unattended and every one is carefully managed to meet their varying needs. The atmosphere is always welcoming - staff are friendly and helpful and as relatives, we are encouraged to visit at any time. Great care is taken with the daily menus, with plenty of variety, and individual preferences are always catered for too. Overall we feel relieved and thankful that our mother can be cared for at The Red House.

Carers are lovely and all of them go the extra mile. The kitchen staff works hard to provide lovely food and are friendly to all residents when they come into the lounge. A lot of activities both indoors/garden excellent. Day-to-day care, staff are all happy.

I decided to transfer into a care home and I did not like living on my own in an empty house so I could leave at any time but I find the care and attention received outweighs anything I could provide for myself. The staff are very caring and helpful and willing to assist wherever needed. The food is very good and plentiful. Need I say more?

Following a fall that resulted in a fractured pelvis, I realised that on leaving the hospital, I would be unable to return home for some time. As, two years ago, my husband spent the last seven months of his life in this home and knowing how well he had been cared for, I had no hesitation in seeking a room here. It is a relatively small home (26-room), and all the residents are known personally by the excellent staff and are considered to be part of The Red House family.

The care and support Mum has received since moving into the Red House in late July 2021, has been superb. She is treated with the utmost consideration by all the hardworking and considerate team, who understand and show respect for the differing needs of The Red House residents. The choice and quality of the meals provided are virtually restaurant standard and the variety of organised activities is very good indeed.

My father's health deteriorated rapidly following a hip fracture and hospital stay at the peak of the second wave of Covid early in 2021. It was a traumatic time for both of us, with decisions having to be made quickly and with little information due to visiting restrictions. Dad's condition has steadily improved over the three months or so since then. He is becoming visibly stronger, calmer and more "himself". I had my doubts about how he would get on in a relatively small nursing home, as he does love to be outdoors and have lots of space. But the atmosphere is so positive, and he is responding well to the care. The team (and they really are a team) are alert to his needs, creative in how they engage with him and always seem very upbeat despite doing a really difficult job. When investigating nursing homes, several people told me that The Red House has a reputation for providing excellent care, and I'm happy to confirm that reputation is well deserved.

My brother ended up in The Red House, to be honest, it was not my choice, however, as I also work in a residential facility I have nothing but praise for the nurses, care assistants and management and the rest of the team what a great job you do.

I have only praise, a huge amount of thanks and gratitude for the care, love, stimulation, and commitment that all the staff at The Red House provide for my Dad. (Resident since December 2020). The staff have not only cared for my dad but have gone over and above to make sure Mum has been supported through these challenging times we have all been experiencing. When we had to make one of the hardest decisions ever to place Dad in a nursing home, the manager warmly invited Mum and me to talk about his needs and the care they would be able to provide. We were bowled over with an overwhelming feeling of relief, that Dad would be well cared for. The months that have followed have only backed up that we made the right choice, as Dad has flourished, with the excellent all-round nursing care, excellent nourishing and varied menus and outstanding stimulating program of activities, not to mention the commitment to make sure our family has been able to share special events that mean so much. Thank you.

I have always been very pleased with the care of my mother in all respects, and other residents appear happy and contented. The Red House always has a nice atmosphere - the staff are very professional, are also caring, patient and attentive. I have felt the care of my mother is very safe and secure in these difficult times. Activities are excellent and stimulating for everyone's abilities. Food, garden and cleanliness also excellent, and necessary equipment. Many thanks.

My mother moved to The Red House about 3-months ago - so her time there has all been under the restrictions that Covid has brought. We were swung towards The Red House by - the 'Outstanding' rating and on reading the full report that the rating is based on, the excellent reviews received (and lack of negative reviews), that a smaller home would feel more 'homely', and that a range of activities was offered. However, right from our initial contacts with The Red House, it has been the staff that I have been most impressed with. All of the staff there have displayed a very caring and professional attitude - both to the residents and their families - and their various disciplines come together to provide a fantastic team. Knowing that Mum is being very well looked after by The Red House team has made a huge difference to our peace of mind. I believe the 'outstanding' rating is well-deserved and am confident that we made the right decision in choosing The Red House as Mum's new home.

Both my parents have been living in The Red House for sixteen months and have been well cared for. Staff are kind and give personal support to the residents with dignity and respect. Transport to hospital and doctors appointments are provided, with a chaperone when needed. The activities programme is varied and stimulating, allowing residents to be involved with national events. Individual interests, for example, music are catered for. The chef is extremely approachable concerning individual resident’s dietary requirements. The garden is not only pleasant to view from inside, but a restful place to spend time in.

Nursing staff are continually available to attend medical needs. When a resident is significantly unwell, the staff offer sensitive support to relatives. During the pandemic, The Red House has been proactive and kept both staff and residents safe.

Having to find a new care home for my father in the middle of lockdown due to Covid, looked like being a nightmare, but I found The Red House, and they made the move so easy and so welcoming. My father has been there nearly three months and has settled very quickly and in that short time, I have found the staff so helpful and thoughtful that it is very reassuring to me and the rest of the family. They are especially proactive with suggestions for activities for my father that are personalised to his interests. Although I have not been able to go into The Red House (and hence am unable to comment objectively on certain aspects), the overall experience of The Red House is very much in line with the other endorsements - as a family, we are very happy to have found The Red House.
