My friend, who is a client at the Red House, is happy at the Red House and feels at home, often referring to his 'family'.
He receives excellent nursing care which is well managed. The carers always respect his dignity, especially when carrying out personal care.

Activities are well thought about and varied, making the day more interesting. There are special days throughout the year, birthdays, Easter, Christmas and summer parties etc, where family and friends can attend to be part of the celebrations.

I find visiting my brother a very pleasant exchange. The staff are so sweet and helpful and kind to all the patients, nothing too much trouble.

The food is very well cooked with plenty of choice. It is nicely served with clean table cloths and they can take their time, no one rushes anyone.

My husband has been a resident of The Red House care home since October 2016. I am comforted by the fact that he is content and considers the staff and residents as his family. I think that says it all. It has a pleasant and friendly atmosphere of the staff are welcoming.

The residents all appear comfortable, happy and well cared for. All staff are welcoming, polite and attentive. The food is of a very high standard and all residents requirements are met. The home feels like one big family and all members of staff partake in monthly theme days organised by an excellent activities co-ordinator. Daily activities provided for all residents. Staff always willing and have a good understanding of dementia care. Wheelchair users always kept comfortable. Altogether an excellent care home with dedicated staff.

I am very happy with the care that mum is receiving at The Red House. The management and staff are very caring and kind. I would like to see some renovation works done generally to the property. The bedrooms, toilets, bathrooms as well as the chairs in the sitting room. I do understand the quality of care is more important than décor, but I think it would make a huge difference. Also, the laundry system needs re-thinking.

The care provided by The Red House is loving and sympathetic. I am often out but I am always welcomed back with a smile - perhaps a hug. I have Parkinson's Disease and when I am badly "off" they will undress me and put me to bed.

I don't know of any other home where the staff will hire costumes and provide a party meal to entertain their residents. Alice in Wonderland and Christmas time being especially remembered.

I have noticed that this care home is very well staffed which allows my Mum to get a high level of care. I like the fact that they get my Mum up and dressed and down to the communal lounge every day giving her as much stimulation as they can within the company of others. I know that this is the 'last stop' for her but at least I feel re-assured that when I leave her, she is in good care.

I came here in summer 2016 and felt very much at home immediately. The home is well furnished and we can choose between spending time alone or with members of the patient group.

The staff are normally familiar and spend time with us as well as leaving us alone and we know them well. We are encouraged to spend time talking to the residents so that we know them and about their families. We have wellness groups each afternoon, plenty of visitors and can go out to family or friends or to groups we belong to like Townswomen’s Guild.

The care of the residents is extremely good, and I can't fault the staff, as they bend over backwards to look after them. The activities are always different each day and most enjoyable even for family members. I would most definitely recommend The Red House.

Whenever we come to visit we are made to feel welcome, offered refreshments and shown to where my friend is. She is always happy looking well groomed as she was at home. She is very happy, enjoys the entertainments provided and loves the food which we have enjoyed with her on many occasion.

All the staff are friendly and approachable, I have watched them make time for all the residents with a smile on their face. Her room has all her favourite pictures and belongings from home and well decorated. It's like popping into her home still !! I was worried she wouldn't settle but the approach to care The Red House provides has made the adjustment easy and it's like she's never not been there.

Overall Experience

As a friend of a resident I have had chances to visit Red House and be with my friend. Also, I have got chances to talk to the care staff. My friend is extremely happy to live there and enjoys each moment of her life. The staff are very caring and passionate about working there. Her artistic interests are promoted by the home. I attended an art exhibition conducted by her which was organised by the home on her behalf. Her birthday was celebrated with pomp by the home. The general atmosphere at the home is very lively and stimulating. The food served is really tasty. My friend has never felt that she was in a care home. Instead she says she was lucky to be there. She likes the social life there and loves to live there until her last. The residents are entertained in various ways and they are encouraged to do gardening, knitting, engage in group activities, watch movies, live shows, floral arrangements, etc. It's a safe and secure place. Overall, it's a class apart.
