My mother stayed at Kilburn Care Home for three months for convalescence, and I couldn't be more grateful for the care she received. The home was always exceptionally clean and well maintained, which gave us real peace of mind from the start.
What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Every member
of the team showed such kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. They looked after my mother so well - not just meeting her needs, but really taking time to get to know her, support her, and brighten her days. Their warmth made a huge difference to her recovery, and she will honestly miss them now she's returning home.
Kilburn Care Home made a challenging period so much easier for all of us, and I'm very thankful for the dedication of the whole team.

My husband has been living in the care home since December 2024. He is well looked after and he has built up a good relationship with the carers. He did experience some difficulties when he first moved in but these have now been resolved. There is a positive ambience and a very friendly greeting from
staff when the family and grandchildren visit.
The home has undergone refurbishment in the communal areas but Johns room is long overdue redecoration. It is a good size which he needs for equipment to manoeuvre him around. However, better lighting and extra power sockets are would be helpful to allow him more comfort as he spends a lot of time in his room.
Overall, we are extremely grateful for the support that he gets in Kilburn.

My brother had been at Kilburn for nearly a year before he became End of Life. The home improved considerably during the time he was there and the communication was excellent. The staff genuinely cared about him although sometimes it seemed there were not enough of them for the type of residents they
have. His wishes were acknowledged and support at the end was amazing.

My mother is incredibly happy staying at Kilburn Care Home, and that means everything to our family. From the moment she arrived, the staff have made her feel so welcome and truly at home. They are exceptionally patient and caring, and it's clear they genuinely look after the residents with kindness
and respect. Seeing how settled and happy my mother is has been such a comfort to us. We're very grateful to the whole team at Kilburn Care Home.

My nephew as been at Kilburn care home for about 12/13 year now.I have seen Kilburn at its lows and its highs. On a few occasions I would had rather my nephew move on from Kilburn but he didn't want and its what makes him happy. After all the time he's been there his bedroom had never been decorated, well
at last its finally got done and he's a happy chappy. His room is now nice, bright and fresh so he now feels like its his room.Kilburn is certainly changing, its brighter, cleaner and fresher, the new colours on the walls certainly cheer it up.The meals have improved too.The staff are lovely but not enough staff at times. The staff are helpful and pleasant.Keep it up Kilburn.Haha love Aunty Mandy x

The nursing care at Kilburn Care home has been exceptional for my mother. Her medical needs are complex, and the clinical team is consistently attentive, proactive, and highly professional. Communication with the family has been excellent; we are always kept in the loop regarding her health and care
plan. The facility is clean, well-managed, and the staff-to-resident ratio allows for high-quality, individualised attention. Highly recommended for anyone seeking top-tier nursing support.

I am pleased and confident that my brother is well cared for and happy at Kilburn. He enjoys his food most of the time . The staff are always very helpful, caring , jovial although sometimes a bit thin on the ground. Kilburn has had issues in the past but, most issues have now been or being resolved.
The care home is continually improving itself and has recently been redecorated giving it a nice clean fresh feel. It has a nice friendly ambience

Staffing on the cusp. Enough to cover residents' needs but only needs one shortage or a problem and the system struggles. Staff cannot provide and extra support or interaction as all time is taken with basic caring.
No time for regular showering, etc.
Activities all fine motor table-based, group involvement
gross movement.
Outside needs general tidy up, and regular clearing of smoking litter.
Internally decor, especially rooms needs a freshen-up.
The Menu could do with a revamp.

My one complaint is the fact that Kilburn care home desperately needs more staff. My other complaint about Kilburn Care Home is their phone service. They seem to operate with one phone line and as an outsider the hours I've spent waiting for the phone to be answered. My father has been in the home for
over 5 years now.

I am happy at Kilburn. The staff look after me well. I'm not a mixer with people but when I do join in with activities I enjoy them. There is a good variety of food choices at meal times and the snack trolley.

The staff is very friendly and always offers drinks when we visit. The care my dad has had has been lovely. The staff meet his needs and are very good and attentive to him when needed. The back garden needs a good tidy up and would suggest a designated area for smoke breaks not in full view of the main
doors. The main decor is dated and needs a makeover (which they are in motion now). I feel they would benefit from more entertainment/activity in the day/evening. All around very nice homely and friendly. Dad has settled well. The cook is very friendly. I would suggest a snack bowl of fresh fruit/yoghurts etc. would be nice.

My dad moved to Kilburn from the hospital in November and it is now his permanent home. The staff have been brilliant at settling him in, making him feel at home and part of the Kilburn family. They know his likes, dislikes and preferred routines and provide activities to keep him stimulated and engaged.
They have also arranged for Dad to have a regular visit from the Church which is important to him. Previously Dad had been very poorly and couldn’t look after himself independently so now he feels safe, secure and reassured that caring staff are always around. The weekly visit from the GP is really good to make sure we are on top of his conditions. I also appreciate how staff organise Dad’s hospital appointments etc. Dad was really lonely after we lost Mum so now he has people around him to chat to he is becoming more himself again. Can’t thank the lovely staff and great manager enough for making this transition seamless and reassuring and for being so welcoming to us as a family.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.406)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.406) out of 10 for Kilburn Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.531 for Kilburn Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.531
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kilburn Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
