The management and all the staff have been extremely helpful and supportive in this very difficult time, explaining each step clearly to us as we go through the process of placing our dad into their care.
Each time we visit the team are very friendly and caring towards the residents which is very reassuring
as we are placing our loved one into their care.

Staff always friendly and helpful. Sat outside but garden area needs improvement. Couldn't sit at the outside table and chairs due to staff having cigarette break. Other chairs were broken. Alot of cigarette ends on the floor.
Reply from Amy Weston, Manager at Kilburn Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We are currently in the process of decorating our garden area which will be great for the upcoming warmer months! There is an allocated smoking area available for both staff and residents to use.

My aunt is being looked after in Kilburn Care Home and is well looked after. Her nutritional health has improved resulting in an improvement in her general health. Her mental health is deteriorating and she is receiving very patient care. The general tone of the home is upbeat and positive and requests
from family are met with a positive approach. The daily activities provide an important part of life-enjoyment. Thanks to all.

My very dear close friend is a resident of Kilburn. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, I like so many others have been unable to visit. I am unable to speak to her over the phone due to her diagnoses of dementia. I would like to say that on every occasion I have contacted the home for an update,
the staff have been very informative on how she is and what she doing at the time.
The staff at Kilburn are very caring and know my friend very well. They know what she likes and what she doesn't.
I cannot wait until the government and covid allow us back into care homes so I can say thank you in person as I know know she is in very capable hands.

The care provided to my husband is excellent. All the staff are friendly and helpful. My husband is treated with dignity and respect. It is positive that the new owners are investing in the building and improving the decoration however, it is always clean. The only area for improvement would be to improve
the ensuite facilities.

I have been very impressed with the care that is given to the residents. The staff are so caring and patient with them all, even when some are aggressive towards them. They show love and affection to them by hugging and sometimes kissing the tops of their heads.
The carers get on with each other so
well and are happy which gives a lovely atmosphere at the home. There is always entertainment planned and lovely decorations, especially at Halloween, Christmas, etc.

The care home is small and friendly. The staff take time to relate personally to the residents, addressing them by name and knowing their likes and dislikes. They are kind.
My mother is clean and tidy when I visit. I think the staff do a difficult job to a good standard; these dedicated people should
be better recognised - and higher paid - for their contribution.
The care home is well managed and the atmosphere is cheerful.

My Uncle became unable to look after himself and had no local relatives. We tried 3 other care homes. In the last one, we really believed he would die. We moved him to Kilburn and there was a transformation. His health improved and he got a new lease of life. You can tell by the atmosphere and attitude
of the staff that residents are cared for. His room is always spotless. He is clean and despite being almost blind and deaf his communication has improved.

I have nothing but praise for Kilbury Care Home. From the first day my Dad went there to the day he passed away they treated him with not just care but love that could only come from a team of staff that are like a family amongst themselves and with every resident. I feel very lucky that my Dad spent
his last few months in their care. Thank you.

I have put security as poor as my husband and a lady got out one evening last summer.
They have done more now to make it better.
Reply from Charlotte Jackson, Marketing Assistant at Kilburn Care HomeI am very sorry this incident happened. We have taken the correct action to prevent this ever happening again. We have increased security in the home by installing a padlock to the side gate and the patio doors are double locked so can only be used with a staff member present. Since inputting these control measures we have had no further issues or concerns of this nature.
Kind Regards,
Lisa Tungate

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.406)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.406) out of 10 for Kilburn Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.531 for Kilburn Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.531
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kilburn Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
