My mum has been a resident at Kilburn Care Home since November 2016 and I can't praise the staff enough. They are very welcoming and always take the time to listen and answer any questions I may have. They are friendly, caring and committed to their jobs. They look after and care for my mum with all
her needs. They are patient, kind and very helpful.

I am really pleased with how mum is looked after and treated and would highly recommend Kilburn Care Home to anyone who is looking for care for a loved one.

My husband transferred here at end of stage dementia. Lovely welcome, nice room and everything he needed. Caring, professional staff, very impressed. Unfortunately, he was admitted to hospital and died three weeks after admission.

As my dear wife was admitted to the above named care and nursing home I cannot honestly praise the management and staff enough for what they are all doing to love and help her in any way possible. I visit her every day and I am always greeted with a smile and asked also if I would like anything, i.e.
a mug of coffee or tea and whilst I am there I have noticed how loving they are to other residents. Like I have said I am very happy and satisfied with the home and everyone involved.

Staff are not very helpful and the lacking of an appointed person in charge 24/7 is not right. None of the staff like to make a decision as there is no appointed person.
My father in law often complains of the waiting time for assistance especially for toilet and needing fluids. Often no one comes.
I stood one day at the door on his level while he shouted for help, there was a nurse next door to his room and she failed to attend to my father in laws calls for help. After 7 mins which I timed I went in as I no longer could take his calls for help. My father in law is blind and cannot walk. So disappointing. There are a couple of nice staff but that's it.

My father recently passed away after just a few weeks at this home. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and compassion that was shown to both him and to us his family. The staff are very special and what was a very distressing time was kept calm and peaceful throughout, a very caring care home.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.236)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.236) out of 10 for Kilburn Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.461 for Kilburn Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 128 Ratings = 4.461
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kilburn Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
