Overall Experience

The staff at Buxton Care Home are exceptional. They cared for my relative with patience, kindness, and compassion. During her most vulnerable time, they supported her needs, helped her feel at ease, and gave her the space to focus on the precious time she had left.
I cannot recommend this home highly enough. It is clean and offers a wide range of meaningful activities, which my aunt enjoyed taking part in.

The management team communicated clearly and consistently, which gave us great reassurance.

Overall Experience

Our 93-year-old Mum entered Buxton Lodge needing nursing care; she died less than six weeks later. Key failures include (but are not limited too):
Small, soft meals and eating support were not provided. Unsuitable meals were left untouched and cold.
Drinking aids unused; water rarely offered and often out of reach.
Her teeth became brown and plaque-covered; Speech and Language Therapist said they appeared not to have been cleaned for weeks.
Bed not placed against wall despite requests; bed-rail not used; fall mat unplugged or pushed under the bed; call bell out of reach and useless due to dementia.
Bed-bound residents largely ignored; minimal interaction unless in the lounge.
New towels and wash products remained unused. Flowers died without water; cards and gifts remained unopened.
Invoices were late, wrong or duplicated, and repayment was delayed.

Some staff may have tried, but there were far too few of them. Mum deserved dignity and safety - she did not receive it. I am devasted.

Since arriving Terry has been made to feel genuinely welcome. The staff are consistently friendly engaging and take the time to know him as a person. The food is well prepared and varied, and he is enjoying the quality of the meals. There's also a strong programme of activities with plenty on offer to keep residents stimulated and involved. Overall it's been reassuring and positive experience for our family.

Overall Experience

I was welcomed warmly on my first visit to the care home. I was visiting a friend and shown to where he was straight away. The home was very clean, and I observed the attention being paid to the residents in a caring manner. My friend wished to go to his room as I left, and I told one of the staff. Someone came within a few minutes to wheel him to his room. Ellie, carer, came to talk to us brightly during my visit and asked how I knew David. This enabled him to tell her how we became friends, and she showed genuine interest with a lovely smile. David was quite animated as he talked to her.

Ashamed our mum spent time there in 2026.

Our mum was a recent resident, towards the end of her life &suffering with dementia, while she fell out of bed because they never put the bed side up, she lay on the floor then waited hours for the doctor to come to see if she broke her pelvis.

She was bed-bound and in her room I kept seeing her glass of water being left out of her reach, They said she has a button to push if she needed anything - SHE HAD DEMENTIA - she couldn't remember our names, never mind a button!

They kept trying to feed her regular menu foods when we told them she couldn't swallow and needed soft food.
I was with her when she cried that she needed the toilet - a job for 2 carers to lift her. Only one was available (ONE person for the whole floor!) the second was late back from her break. We waited 25 mins, By this time, mum had an accident and suffered the humiliation of wetting the bed.

Theres so much more. AUREM CARE (parent company) and management are to blame

I have been many times to this home and have always found the staff polite, courteous and kind. I especially appreciated the attention to small but important details today. The staff - patient was very high today - so that no one was rushed. I would have no hesitation to recommend The Red House or allowing anyone close to me to be moved to here. I visit The Red House every week and love the friendly atmosphere. I am always made to feel welcome and a part of The Red House family. The management and staff work as a team to provide care of an outstanding quality. My aunt has been a resident for 4 years and is always treated with respect, compassion and has quality care. We have nothing but admiration for the hard working staff. Mealtime are a joy of her and she enjoys the activities programme. The home and residents are kept very clean. Well done to the manager for her ongoing work in an excellently run, care home.

Overall Experience

A family member was in the care of Red House for just over a year. In their care she flourished and we saw moments of her younger self come back to life as she settled into the home and their care. She gained weight, became engaged, and was well cared for. Sadly she passed away recently and the care and compassion the whole team showed was wonderful. They are the most amazing care home, all the staff are just fantastic. Highly recommended.

Overall Experience

Overall, this is a very good care home, providing safe and dignified care. The activities are well planned and enjoyed by both residents and their relatives. The staff are friendly and caring.
The regular catering staff are excellent with a variety of main meals and freshly baked cakes served for tea most days!

Hopefully, the new management team will continue to build on the good work here.
