Maintenance person

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Care Home Maintenance Person to ensure the safety, functionality, and comfort of our care facility. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the building’s infrastructure, performing repairs, and overseeing maintenance operations to create a welcoming environment for residents and staff alike. Your expertise will help uphold high standards of safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency within the care home setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to identify potential issues before they impact operations.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks across various systems, including electrical wiring, plumbing fixtures, heating and cooling units, and structural components.
• Maintain the home's decor and renovations as required.
• Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions accurately and efficiently.
• Lead small maintenance teams or supervise contractors during repair projects to ensure timely completion and quality standards.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for accountability and future reference.
• Collaborate with staff to prioritise urgent repairs while minimising disruption to residents’ daily routines. Skills
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical components, and building maintenance practices.
• Experience reading schematics and technical diagrams for troubleshooting purposes.
• Skilled in welding and other metalworking techniques to repair or fabricate parts as needed.
• Excellent supervisory skills with a focus on leadership and team coordination.
• Customer service-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate clearly in English with staff, contractors, and vendors.
