About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and organised Housekeeper to join our care home team and take responsibility for maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness across the home.

You will lead and support the domestic and laundry team, ensuring residents' bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas are maintained to a high standard. You will also play an important role in creating a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment where residents feel respected and at home.

As Housekeeper, you will help organise the day-to-day housekeeping service, support your team and work closely with the wider management team to ensure high standards are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day housekeeping and domestic services within the care home.
• Lead, support and supervise the domestic and laundry team.
• Organise rotas, allocate duties and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Ensure residents' bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas are maintained to a high standard.
• Follow daily and deep-cleaning schedules and monitor completion.
• Monitor housekeeping standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Complete monthly domestic, laundry and infection control audits.
• Maintain accurate housekeeping records and follow up on actions identified.
• Order and maintain appropriate cleaning products, equipment and PPE.
• Ensure the home's colour-coded cleaning system is followed correctly.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and products are used safely.
• Report damaged or faulty equipment and maintenance issues.
• Ensure waste is managed and disposed of correctly.
• Support infection prevention and control standards throughout the home.
• Work closely with the Home Manager, Environmental Officer, care team and wider management team.
• Support staff development, supervision and performance where appropriate.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Organised, reliable and able to manage a busy workload.
• Experienced in housekeeping, cleaning or domestic services.
• Confident leading, supporting and supervising a team.
• Able to plan rotas and organise staff effectively.
• Committed to maintaining consistently high standards.
• Knowledgeable about cleaning procedures and infection prevention.
• Comfortable completing records, audits and checks.
• Able to identify issues and take appropriate action.
• A good communicator who works well with colleagues and management.
• Caring and respectful towards residents and their personal space.
• Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
• Willing to undertake relevant training and continue developing professionally.

Previous experience in a care home, healthcare, hotel, hospitality or similar housekeeping environment would be advantageous.
