PART TIME COOK REQUIRED TO WORK 16 HOURS A WEEK

Abacus Care Home is a 25 bed Residential Care Home is seeking to appoint a part time cook.

You work alone in the main kitchen, your main duties are to prep and cook for 25 residents. Shift patterns are 8.00-14.00 and 14.00-18.00.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of menu items with precision and attention to detail
• Follow established recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards to ensure consistency
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including food prep stations and cooking equipment
• Adhere strictly to food safety regulations and sanitation procedures at all times
• Assist with meal assembly, plating, and serving to ensure timely delivery of orders
• Support inventory management by properly storing ingredients and notifying supervisors of stock needs
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy periods

Qualifications

• Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably in a restaurant or similar setting
• Knowledge of kitchen safety practices and food safety standards
• Strong understanding of meal preparation techniques and culinary fundamentals
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards
• Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward serving guests
• Prior experience with food handling, sanitation, and serving is highly desirable
• Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings or weekends as needed
