We’re looking for an experienced, caring and organised Activities Coordinator to join our team at Fordingbridge Care Home, in the heart of the New Forest.

This is a rewarding role for someone who understands that activities in a care home are about much more than keeping people busy. They’re about helping residents maintain their independence, enjoy their interests, build relationships and continue doing the things that make life meaningful.

What will you be doing?

You’ll take the lead in creating and delivering a varied programme of activities that reflects the individual interests, abilities and life experiences of our residents.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and leading engaging daily activities, from arts and crafts, music and games to reminiscence, hobbies and practical life skills.

• Creating opportunities for residents to socialise, try new things and maintain their independence.

• Getting to know residents as individuals and adapting activities to suit different needs and abilities.

• Organising special events, celebrations and opportunities to connect with the local community.

• Encouraging participation in a positive, inclusive and supportive way.

• Working closely with care colleagues to ensure activities are meaningful, appropriate and accessible.

• Keeping activity plans and records up to date.

You’ll need to be comfortable taking the initiative, motivating others and adapting your plans when the day takes an unexpected turn.

What are we looking for?

Previous experience in a care setting is essential. We’re particularly interested in people who have experience of supporting older people and understand the importance of dignity, choice, independence and individual wellbeing.

You’ll also need to be:

• Creative and full of ideas, with the confidence to plan and lead activities.

• Warm, patient and approachable, with excellent communication skills.

• Well organised, able to manage your time and keep accurate records.

• Flexible and adaptable, with a practical, positive approach.

• Comfortable working independently while contributing to a wider team.

• Passionate about making a genuine difference to people's everyday lives.

Basic IT skills are useful, and training will be provided where needed.

Right to work in the UK: Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship from Allegra Care.
