Location: Gable Court, Romford, RM6 4AZ

Hours: 40 hours per week

About Us

Serencroft Care Homes is an independent care provider operating five residential and nursing homes across England, including Gable Court in Romford. We are CQC-regulated and B Corp certified, and we work in partnership with NHS commissioners and local universities to provide high-quality, person-centred care. We're looking for an inspiring, detail-driven Head of Hospitality to lead our housekeeping team and set a hotel standard of presentation, cleanliness and care for the residents and staff who call Gable Court home.

The Role

As our Head of Hospitality, you'll be responsible for the presentation, cleanliness and overall guest-standard experience of Gable Court, reporting to the Home Manager. You'll lead the housekeeping team and own delivery of the home's Standard Operating Procedures covering presentation standards, cleaning and infection control, COSHH and chemical safety, linen and laundry management, and the furniture and equipment audit and inventory programme.

Key Responsibilities

•  Lead, brief, train and motivate the housekeeping team, allocating rooms and priorities at the start of each shift and holding a regular team check-in

•  Set and maintain luxury, hotel-standard presentation across bedrooms, bathrooms and all communal areas, including bed-making, towel and toiletry presentation, and seasonal and floral displays

•  Walk the building at the start and end of every shift using the presentation checklist, and sign off completed rooms against the daily checklist

•  Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning schedules, including the weekly deep clean, in line with CQC infection control requirements

•  Ensure the colour-coded cloth system and correct cleaning procedures are followed for all equipment and surfaces, including beds and mattresses, pressure relief equipment, hoists and slings, and wheelchairs

•  Ensure all housekeeping staff are trained and signed off before using any chemical product, and maintain the COSHH folder and Safety Data Sheets

•  Ensure chemicals are stored, diluted and labelled correctly, appropriate PPE is used, and spillages are managed and reported

•  Maintain linen handling and infection-control standards, complete the weekly linen audit and keep minimum par stock levels for bed linen and towels

•  Review housekeeping supplies and order items below par level, and check cleaning equipment is clean, functional and in good condition

•  Manage urgent issues such as spillages, complaints and maintenance requests, escalating appropriately and following up outstanding jobs

•  Carry out the monthly furniture and equipment audit across all resident rooms and communal areas, rating condition on the home's 1–5 scale and escalating any item rated Poor or Replace Now

•  Maintain the live furniture and equipment inventory, keeping records current within 5 working days of any purchase, disposal, condition change or approved replacement

•  Produce the monthly replacement report and audit summary to inform CAPEX planning, submitting it to the Home Manager by the 25th of each month

•  Work closely with the nursing and care team on clinical equipment cleaning, resident room access and resident wellbeing

•  Review seasonal presentation and brief the team on any changes required

•  Attend the monthly management meeting or submit a written update to the Home Manager

What We're Looking For

•  Proven experience leading a housekeeping or hospitality team, ideally within a care home, hotel or other high-standard hospitality environment

•  A meticulous eye for detail and a genuine pride in presentation, consistency and finish

•  Working knowledge of COSHH regulations and infection control practice, or a willingness to be trained and signed off on the home's procedures

•  Strong organisational skills, comfortable maintaining audit records and inventories and reporting to deadline

•  Confident, clear communication skills, able to brief, train and motivate a team and liaise with the Home Manager and other departments

•  A leader who sets the standard by example and holds the team to that standard consistently

•  Right to work in the UK

•  Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

What We Offer

•  A varied, hands-on role within a supportive, values-led care home team

•  Ongoing training and development opportunities within a multi-site care group

•  Full induction

•  Potential to take up NVQ once successfully completing probation period.

•  A supportive value led team environment

•  Refer a Friend bonus – up to £200!

•  Blue Light Card Eligibility

•  Employee of the quarter - opportunity to potentially win tickets to sporting events or purchasing vouchers for amazing brands and so much more!
