Bupa appoints new HR director

Bupa, the international healthcare provider, has appointed Denise Collis as its new Group HR Director.

Denise will join Bupa’s senior leadership team on 1 June 2010, and will report to Chief Executive Ray King. She will lead the global HR function and work closely with Bupa’s businesses around the world to deliver the Group’s strategic agenda. Denise will replace Bob Watson, who is retiring from Bupa after 15 years as Group HR Director.

Denise has enjoyed a long career at the strategic level of international human resource management. She joins Bupa having run her own business over the past 12 months specialising in people strategy and leadership development. Prior to this she was Group HR Director for 3i Group plc, the FTSE 100 private equity company. Denise began her career with Ford Motor Company, and subsequently developed a deep understanding of the financial and professional services sectors through senior HR roles at Arthur Andersen, Midland Bank, HSBC James Capel and Standard Chartered Bank. Prior to joining 3i, Denise was a partner and Head of HR for Ernst & Young LLP, covering the UK, Middle East, Africa and India.

Denise is a non-executive director of Kinsey Allen International and a member of the advisory boards of Leeds and Exeter University business schools.

Announcing the appointment, Bupa Chief Executive, Ray King said: “Denise brings to Bupa a wealth of international human resources experience, which will be invaluable in her new role overseeing Bupa’s diverse and talented workforce. Denise will play a key role in developing Bupa’s talent to support the Group’s growth ambitions.”
