European Care Group, one of the leading providers of specialist and elderly care in the UK, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ted Smith as Chief Executive Officer as from August 8th.
Anoup Treon, founder of European Care Group who has until now been fulfilling the dual roles of Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, has led its expansion over the last 11 years to its current position as the fifth largest in the country. Anoup will now focus on leading the Board in his capacity as Executive Chairman at a time when the Group is well placed to achieve further growth.
Ted Smith joins the Group having been CEO of Craegmoor, a specialist care group recently acquired by The Priory Group. Ted joined Craegmoor in 2004 as Chief Operating Officer before becoming Chief Executive Officer in 2005. He led the successful turnaround of the Group including driving the development of strategic and operating plans. Ted began his career as a pharmacist for Boots and was a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for 30 years which included having spent three years on its Council. Ted has also served as Stores Director both for WH Smith, where he rose to MD of the Central Region, and Iceland Foods plc. Ted was also a Board Member and Honorary Treasurer of the English Community Care Association and a member of the influential Adults with Learning Disabilities Services (ALDS) forum.
