Michael Tomlinson, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, and Bupa UK CEO, David Hynam have officially opened a new care home unit offering residential and dementia care. They were joined at The Links care home on Golflinks Avenue in Broadstone to celebrate along with colleagues and residents from the home.

The Willow unit was reopened on Friday 13 July following an extensive refurbishment, and will provide care to six people. Overall the home offers care to more than 60 residents. The opening of the unit coincides with the renaming of the home’s other three floors – now known as Oak, Maple and Elm – and is one of a number of recent updates, helping ensuring the home can deliver quality care in a modern setting.

David Hynam, Bupa UK CEO said: “It’s been a pleasure to see this home in action and in particular spend time with the team. They all go to great lengths to deliver compassionate care and now with the refurbishment complete, residents have access to some of the best facilities and surroundings on their door step.”

Michael Tomlinson, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole added: “It’s so important that we’re supporting older people in our communities, particularly those affected by dementia. I’m delighted to see the facilities that Bupa has to offer at this home. It was a pleasure meeting the residents and staff at The Links, and I’d like to commend them for doing a great job of maintaining a caring, family atmosphere at the home.”

Home Manager Gigy Johnson commented: “It’s been a privilege to mark the official opening of our new unit with our UK CEO and local MP. Our residents and the team thoroughly enjoyed being able to show them around their new home.”

Bupa The Links provides specialist residential and nursing care for older people with a range of needs including dementia and offers the option of short stays and day care. The home has its own minibus for trips out, and a great calendar of events for residents.
