This care home is proud to be able to display an Outstanding CQC rating (November 2023).

The Links is in the lovely village setting of Broadstone, close to local amenities and within easy reach of Dorset’s beautiful beaches and countryside. The Links offers residential, nursing, respite, post-operative, palliative and dementia care.

Pre-bookable short stays are also offered for people to rest, relax and recover, maybe post op or whilst family or a carer are on holiday. The Links also offers day care - please call for more details.

At The Links, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Staff are well trained and there is 24/7 nursing care on site.

The home also has an onsite café that is peaceful and offers a great place to relax with friends and family. This home also benefits from an onsite salon, with a full-time hairdresser on site offering a brilliant service to all the residents.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at The Links, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. The Links manager and staff have always been friendly, helpful and professional from the first visit, through wife's death and settling into home and finally David's death in Decemeber. Our wishes and requests were acted on quickly and sensitively. David settled well and was always grateful for such
a nice place to live. Friends and family always felt welcomed for visits anytime. David was encouraged to join in with activities and had some fun times both in the home and on outings. Thank you all at The Links for everything you did.

My mother was a resident at the Bupa The Links Care Home for 3 years until her death. She received very good care, and the staff were all very caring and supportive during her final years. Mum truly appreciated the lovely staff, and felt safe and relaxed. The staff were also very supportive of our family.
The staff have our gratitude.

My mum has been a resident here for almost 3yrs. The Links (golf) is the most amazing care home. Staff are attentive and caring, ensuring my mum is always happy and comfortable.
Everyday there are great activities/entertainment at 2pm following lunch. The food is very good indeed too.
It's 5 Stars

My wife was taken into care in December 2023 when her dimentia had gone beyond my ability to take care of her.
Links staff worked hard to assess the elements of her care needs and involved the family in working in her needs.
Myself and our two daughters have attended Links at least five times a week
and have when necessary brought her changing needs to their attention and which they have always responded to.

We've always found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly and very supportive to my mums needs. Although my mum doesn't get involved, there are plenty of varied activities going on most days. The food menu provides plenty of choice and if there is nothing on the menu that my mum likes the chef
can provide a variety of other options.

My dad has been living at The Links for a year now and he has been very well cared for. Everyone at The Links has played their part in making him feel comfortable, settled and safe. He is always treated with dignity & patience. All staff take time to chat with him including housekeeping, maintenance
and catering staff. He really enjoys the programme of social activities - there is always something happening each day, including music, entertainment. He really enjoys the keep fit sessions. Thanks to two members of staff in particular's efforts he has been able to go on some of the outings in the local area. A recent highlight was a boat trip and the harbour in a wheelchair friendly boat. Incredible was how he described it. Many thanks xxx

All the staff from the management team down to the cleaners treat my mum and myself with care and respect. They have supported me when I have needed answers re care and signposted me to the right agencies to get that support if unable to provide it themselves.
All the carers and nursing staff know
my name, and recently, the activities team helped provide mum with a 90th birthday party.
Photos go on their social media page so my sister, who lives far away, can be part of mum's life still

My husband had a 3 week respite stay while our daughter, who helps us, had a 3 week holiday in Australia and I had a break at home. He was reluctant at first as it was 'the unknown' but soon settled and was very well looked after by caring and professional staff. I was happy to know he was safe and
would certainly call on them again if I needed to.

Mum moved to The Links four and a half years ago during the first COVID lockdown. She suffered from dementia and at first found it hard to settle but with the help and care of the staff she adapted well to her new home. She joined in the many activities provided and all of the staff were kind and caring
towards her. They managed her condition well through the different stages and it was always a comfort to see Mum with a smile on her face and having a giggle. I can't thank The Links enough for looking after Mum through those difficult years and for their care and compassion up to and during her passing.

Dad was admitted to The Links for palliative and end-of-life care. From the initial assessment by the Manager to the day of his death, I cannot praise all of the staff enough. They took time to get to know Dad and treated him with such care, respect and dignity. We know that at times they were busy
but they still managed to maintain a calm and relaxed atmosphere, stop for a supportive chat or update on Dad's condition. Although Dad was too unwell to take part in group activities, I observed other residents obviously enjoying taking part as I passed by the lounge, but staff took the time, when he was up to it, to sit and chat or go through his family photo album with him. We felt comforted by seeing how they adapted their care as he deteriorated and their end-of-life care was excellent. BUPA should feel very proud of The Links.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.697)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.697) out of 10 for The Links Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.697 for The Links Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (270 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 343 Ratings = 4.697
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Links Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
