This care home is proud to be able to display an Outstanding CQC rating (November 2023).

The Links is in the lovely village setting of Broadstone, close to local amenities and within easy reach of Dorset’s beautiful beaches and countryside. The Links offers residential, nursing, respite, post-operative, palliative and dementia care.

Pre-bookable short stays are also offered for people to rest, relax and recover, maybe post op or whilst family or a carer are on holiday. The Links also offers day care - please call for more details.

At The Links, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so it creates a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence. Staff are well trained and there is 24/7 nursing care on site.

The home also has an onsite café that is peaceful and offers a great place to relax with friends and family. This home also benefits from an onsite salon, with a full-time hairdresser on site offering a brilliant service to all the residents.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients and try to cater for all ethnicity groups. Soon after a resident arrives at The Links, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. So whether your loved one already has a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there are lots of exciting activities to get involved in.

It has been a challenging time for my mother-in-law over the last 6 months, and I am completely confident that The Links are providing the kindest and most comprehensive care for her. The support from the staff for my mother-in-law is outstanding, and I particularly want to thank them for the tireless
way they support our family alongside our journey together. I especially want to thank the Manager for her very committed approach, taking time on a very regular basis to discuss everything with my wife, (resident's daughter), and also the nursing staff and carers, some of whom go over and above what could ever be expected of staff in a large care home. The Links is a happy place, residents are often willing to chat and welcome resident's loved ones into their "home family," and we have had many lovely conversations with them, which helps our Mum to feel at home too. The Links should take pride in being able to respond very much to their individual resident's needs. Thank you.
Reply from Maria Ricketts, Customer Care Adviser at The Links Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. We are happy to hear your mother-in-law feels like a part of our Links family. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your mother-in-law's stay as comfortable as possible.

Excellent care home with such helpful, friendly staff. I love visiting The Links, a wonderful family atmosphere and always someone around to answer any queries that may arise. My family and I have complete peace of mind knowing that Dad is being so well cared for - couldn't imagine him being anywhere
else. Thank you so much to all the staff for your care, patience and kindness.

Have visited a neighbour who is on the 2nd floor and unable to get out of bed. He appears to be left in bed 24 hours per day. My wife unable to get out of bed at a different care home is craned daily into a superb chair and taken to the lounge and to events. I also visit two other persons at The Links
- they are both mobile.
Be sure you make every effort to address this problem of moving immobile people - to stimulate them.
Reply from Maria Ricketts, Customer Care Adviser at The Links Care HomeWe appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. Our resident's health and well being is an absolute priority. We will discuss your feedback with the home's manager to help them continually improve their service.

After a couple of periods of respite, my Mum decided she would like to become a permanent resident because she found the other people so friendly and welcoming, and really appreciated the care from the staff.
I have the utmost praise for every single member of staff and their exceptional care for her
wellbeing.
They have an immense understanding of complex needs, especially in emotional and mental health, and all the residents seem to enjoy the food, ambience and entertainment.
I would absolutely recommend The Links as a residential home for your loved one.

My husband was lucky enough to get a place at The Links. It's been a massive bonus for him. He is more aware, happier and active. The staff are brilliant, calm, caring and friendly. The opening afternoon for the garden was a total success. Such a pleasant time with the singer and buffet.

Very poor at keeping me informed. Unable to clarify when my mother lost her dentures or glasses as they did not record this. Mother seems happy enough there but I keep sending emails for example requesting a copy of her care plan that I've never seen and get no reply. Now looking to remove her to another
home. Perhaps posting this review will get a reply to my email.

Excellent! Staff were all very friendly and caring and they always had time to care for my mum's needs. I was kept informed on how she was getting on and most times I rang, I was able to speak directly to my mum. The care home generously provided me with accommodation when I needed to stay over and
they equally looked after me so well. The management and staff were all very approachable and excellent professionals.

Excellent care is given to all residents. Very caring staff, nothing is too much trouble. They all go over and above the basics, with each staff member joining in all the activities and making the residents feel special.
I have visited during musical events and watched staff interact with residents.
They have animal visits, and each resident is given time to interact with the different species of birds and mammals.
Each person is treated with respect and dignity.

Six weeks ago my mother was frail and frightened, just out of hospital after falling down stairs. Six weeks later, the difference and improvement in her physical and mental well-being are incredible. She describes everyone as very kind and patient. She is fiercely independent but through that kind and
caring attitude, the team have won her trust. What a special group of people working here. Thank you.

When researching residential care for my wife, my son and I received a very warm welcome and were shown around the total building and they were very receptive to any questions we asked and we were allowed all the time we required in order to make our decision. Following our visit, we decided The Links
seemed exactly what we were looking for. My wife entered The Links on the 29th of December 2022 and has received all the care and attention that one could have asked for, all the staff we have encountered so far have all been extremely helpful and my wife is happy in the surroundings. It seems we could not have made a better choice.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.697)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.697) out of 10 for The Links Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.697 for The Links Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (270 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 343 Ratings = 4.697
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Links Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
