Huddersfield care home awarded "excellent" five stars for its food hygiene

The Oakes care home in Huddersfield has been rated Excellent with 5 stars after an unannounced inspection by Kirklees Council as part of their Scores on the Doors food safety scheme.

Care centre manager Mark Birchenough said: "Food is a very important part of our service here. We are a 5 star home and are pleased that the council think so too. The award comes just after National Food Safety Week so we couldn’t be any more pleased.”

The Oakes opened in spring 2012 following a multi-million pound investment and this exclusive care home was built by the award-winning Meridian Healthcare group and forms part of their Premiere collection.

Meridian is an independently operated company with a progressive attitude to the care of older people. Their Premiere range was created out of a desire to build luxurious care homes that feature exemplary levels of service and care.
