Provider Bupa Care Homes has announced the start of a partnership with two centres of excellence for mental health, as part of the company’s mission to remain at the cutting edge of innovative treatment and care.
The two centres, South London and Maudsley and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trusts, will act as clinical advisers to Bupa on key issues such as the relationship between physical and mental health, and the development of integrated services.
Medical director for Bupa Health Funding, Dr Katrina Herren, explains: “This partnership provides an exciting opportunity for us to work with two organisations, which are internationally renowned for their mental health expertise.”
Dr Herren continues, “Bupa is committed to seeking the best mental health support for our members and to driving improvements in the quality of care that our members receive. Through our work with the Tavistock and Portman and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts we are looking forward to significantly improving and differentiating Bupa’s mental health services.”
Both NHS Foundation Trusts have also issued comment to express their optimism regarding this new partnership.
Medical director for South London and Maudsley, Dr Martin Baggaley, said: “This is an exciting collaboration for us, particularly as our research, as part of King’s Health Partners, is yielding growing insight into the interactions between physical and mental health and the need to develop better clinical responses to both.”
Dr Matthew Patrick, chief executive for Tavistock and Portman, commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with two partners so committed to quality and jointly to look at innovative opportunities to deliver better healthcare and real outcomes that matter to people.”
Bupa are listed on carehome.co.uk as the second largest care home provider in the country, currently operating in 300 registered facilities.
