Residents and staff at Care South’s care homes in Poole, Alexandra House and Elizabeth House care homes in Poole, spent their Easter weekend participating in a range of different Easter themed activities, organised by the homes’ activity co-coordinators.
Alexandra House began the weekend with an arts and crafts session where residents made their own Easter bonnets, while some staff and residents made Easter bunny ears to wear around the home.
Care home manager at Alexandra House, Tarina Price, said: “We have had such a wonderful Easter weekend here at the home. It’s important at Care South for the homes to celebrate and organise special events for the residents to get involved in. Our residents were kept thoroughly busy with the activities provided and we even raised a fantastic amount for the resident’s amenity fund. Everyone is now looking forward to the next celebration at the home!
The home received a donation of an Easter themed cake from the School of Cake Artistry in Poole, which specialises in teaching the skills and techniques used when decorating cakes, including icing and creating 3D edible sculptures.
Staff and residents at the home collected prizes for an Easter themed raffle and raised £150, which will be go towards the residents’ amenity fund and allow the home to run a programme of stimulating and interesting activities for residents.
While residents and staff at Elizabeth House in Parkstone made Easter-themed decorations as part of their regular arts and crafts sessions at the home.
Residents made colourful Easter bonnets, selecting decorations including chicks, eggs and daffodils to make them unique. After creating their new headwear, residents showed them off with their group while enjoying tea and hot cross buns. After creating their Easter bonnets, residents hand painted eggs for handmade Easter nests.
Manager at Elizabeth House, Karen Curtis, commented: “The activity mornings are important for our residents as they look forward to these sessions. Easter is always such a special time of year and it’s great to see the residents get excited for the celebrations and get so involved. Everyone commented on what a lovely morning they had and we look forward to the next themed activity session."
