A D-Day veteran living in lockdown wept tears of joy after his care home surprised him with a cushion that had his late wife's face printed on it.
After his wife Ada died last year, 94-year-old Ken Benbow would take a photograph of her to bed with him every night at his care home in Preston, Lancashire.
17-year-old care worker Kia Tobin recently moved into the Thistleton Lodge nursing home to help look after older residents during the coronavirus pandemic.
After noticing that 94-year-old Ken had been sleeping with a framed picture of his late wife, she decided to surprise him with the thoughtful gift.
A video of the former Royal Navy serviceman's emotional reaction has been posted online and has gone viral with over four million views.
Ken and Ada were married for 71 years before she died nine months ago.
The care home posted the video on its Facebook page with the message: 'We know our residents are missing their loved ones at this time but let’s not forget those who sadly aren’t here with us anymore.
'Today, one of our lovely staff Kia Mariah Tobin gave Ken a pillow with his beloved wife on who we also cared for. Safe to say we all shed a tear with Ken today. Lots of love, your Thistleton Lodge family'.
