Dignity Action Day on 1st February at Tameside’s Millbrook care home, which offers residential care, resulted in a beautiful dignity tree made by Residents.
Colleagues and Residents decorated the dignity tree, starting with the leaves. Each person was provided with a leaf so they can write a few lines about their thoughts on how to treat people with dignity and respect.
The dignity tree is situated in the lounge area, and anyone can write on a leaf to tell others what dignity means to them.
Claire Jones, Home Manager, said, “We had a great talk about ensuring dignity and what dignity means in everyday life.”
The Residents liked answering questions about what dignity means to them over a cup of tea and cake.
Olivia, who lives at the home, remarked, “It felt good to remind myself how I wanted to be treated, because that’s how I should treat others.”
Claire added, “The dignity tree is a great way of expressing what dignity means to you.
“We will continue to add more leaves.”
