Residents at Meadow Bank House care home enjoy MP visit

Meadow Bank House care home in Bamber Bridge, Preston, was visited on 13 December by Yasmin Qureshi, MP for Bolton South and Walkden.

Ms Qureshi was accompanied by Councillor Josh Charter, who represents St. James Ward.

Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned care home enjoyed meeting Yasmin Qureshi MP and chatting to her about what life is like at Meadow Bank House care home – which is an integral part of the local Preston community.

Yasmin Qureshi MP enjoyed a tour round the friendly, 110-bed care home, that offers residential, nursing and dementia care and features its own hair salon, landscaped garden and hobby room.

The home also provides a ‘Specialist Dementia Care Community’ (SDCC), which offers an enhanced service which focuses on the welfare and wellbeing of people who are emotionally distressed by their dementia and therefore require specialist care and support.

During the visit, MP Qureshi expressed keen interest in understanding various aspects of the care home, including residents' well-being, current occupancy levels, and the home's relationships within the local community. Home Manager Jincy Lukose highlighted the strong ties Meadow Bank House has built with local schools, churches, and other community organizations.

Residents’ spokesperson, Mike Roddy, shared how performances by local schoolchildren bring joy to residents, describing the songs as refreshing and uplifting for everyone at the home.

The visit also provided an opportunity for staff to share their efforts in maintaining high morale through well-being programmes, which have been instrumental in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting staff retention. The team at Meadow Bank House Care Home expressed their gratitude for the visit and the genuine interest shown by Yasmin Qureshi MP and Councillor Charter in the home’s residents, staff, and community connections.
