There’s something truly special about places that mark a beginning. For Keane Premier Group, that place is Dunvegan Lodge. Tucked away in Cambuslang, just a few miles from Glasgow city centre, Dunvegan isn’t just our first care home - it’s the heart and soul of everything we stand for.
Back in 2009, Lynn and Jim Smith took a bold step and opened Dunvegan with a vision rooted in care, community, and compassion. Lynn’s background in caregiving and their shared values created something unique: a place where residents would feel safe, supported, and genuinely at home. And it worked. What started as one home has since grown into a family of care services across Lanarkshire, but Dunvegan still holds that original warmth and spirit.
Walking through Dunvegan, it’s clear that everything has been created with the people who live there in mind. From single rooms to larger suites for couples, the space feels personal and thoughtful. For couples especially, the rooms have been designed so they can stay close - each with their own furniture and TV, but side-by-side, together. It’s those little touches that matter. The environment is homely but safe, with emergency call systems, handrails, and accessible spaces throughout.
The surrounding area adds to the charm. Local shops, restaurants, leisure centres, and excellent transport links make it easy for family and friends to visit, and for residents to stay connected to the world outside. Being close to Glasgow, but in a quieter, welcoming neighbourhood, offers the best of both worlds.
But Dunvegan isn’t just about the building or the location - it’s about the people. The care team, led by manager Gill Ewing, are compassionate, respectful, and completely dedicated to the wellbeing of every resident. Person-centred care is at the heart of what they do. They take the time to get to know each person - their routines, their likes and dislikes, their stories - and then tailor their support accordingly. Whether someone’s living with dementia, needs help with day-to-day tasks, or simply wants to enjoy a peaceful retirement, the team is there, always listening, always caring.
It’s hard not to be moved by the sense of connection that fills the home. You feel it in the way staff greet residents by name, in the laughter shared over lunch, and in the quiet moments of reassurance and kindness. Dunvegan is more than just a care home - it’s where care lives, where stories continue, and where every person is truly seen.
