Huddersfield care home celebrates ‘good’ CQC rating

Cleveland House Bupa Care Home has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following its latest inspection.

The CQC report assessed Cleveland House as 'Good' in all areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Staff, residents, and family members were all excited about the result and it is testament to the team’s continued commitment to offering a high standard of care.

During the inspection, the CQC inspection team spoke to residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and staff to get their feedback on the service.

Inspectors reported receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback about the home, identifying a strong leadership team which drove continuous improvement and created a positive approach to care which people benefitted from.

One member of staff told the inspectors: “The managers here are brilliant. I know I can go to them about anything, and what I have to say is listened to.”

The CQC report shared that the home fostered a safe environment, providing great care for their residents, following procedures with strong communication. They identified the home prioritised residents’ health and wellbeing, with excellent spaces for the residents, indoors and outdoors, along with accessible and regular activities suitable for all residents.

Speaking about the staff at the care home, a resident’s family member said: “It is very safe here. It is not a care home; it is a home.”

Another resident commented: “The staff are very helpful and caring. They help me and I feel they treat me with courtesy and respect.”

Home Manager, Claire Turner, said: "The whole team here at Cleveland House are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of the inspection. It reflects the hard work of our staff, their attention to detail and dedication to the residents. I know it means a lot to our residents and their families to see that they are in such safe hands.”
