Residents at The Corner House recently enjoyed a very special visit from the wonderful animals at Alpaca Acres in Great Tey near Colchester ?????? The team brought along alpacas, friendly goats and adorable guinea pigs, giving residents the chance to stroke, hold and spend time with the animals. The visit created so many smiles and lovely conversations as residents shared memories of pets they had loved throughout their lives. Manager Kate Emery said: “We absolutely loved welcoming Alpaca Acres to The Corner House. Seeing the joy on our residents’ faces when the animals arrived was truly heart-warming. Pet therapy is so valuable in a care home environment. It helps reduce anxiety, encourages conversation and brings comfort and happiness to our residents. Many of our residents have had animals throughout their lives, so spending time with these gentle animals brings back wonderful memories.” Animal experiences have become a much-loved part of life at The Corner House. Residents have previously watched ducks hatch, seen live butterflies emerge and enjoyed fascinating visits from owls and other birds of prey. ?????? And there is even more to look forward to. Soon residents will be learning about bugs, insects and snakes, as well as welcoming their very own ant hill and ladybird station — bringing nature even closer to home. ?????? These experiences spark memories, encourage conversation and create moments of joy, curiosity and connection for residents every day.
