Residents at The Cedars Care Home in Bourne had an amazing morning as they joined the South Kesteven Walking Festival’s ‘Walk with A Time Traveller’ at the beautiful Wellhead Park.
Residents, family and staff joined over 20 members of the public who had gathered to hear the history of Bourne through a fascinating and very entertaining presentation led by Irene the Time Traveller. The talk covered the history of Bourne Castle, Hereward the Outlaw, the Wake and Beaufort families, Robert Manning, and the Great Fire of Bourne; whilst taking a leisurely stroll through the scenic park with its blossoming trees and fountains.
Anne Miller loves learning about history; and said ‘it’s fascinating! I’ve never heard of the Great Fire of Bourne before! Aren’t we lucky to have this on our doorstep?’ Dorothy added that she would ‘absolutely go again!’
Rebecca Aldred, Senior General Manager of The Cedars Care Home said “We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at The Cedars as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and to respond to the wishes and interests of our residents. Living in a care home doesn’t put a stop to celebrating life, and our engaging activities are designed to be enjoyed by all who want to join in.”
