National Pet Day Celebrations at Friary Care

Last Updated: 27 Apr 2026 @ 00:00 AM

At Friary Care, we always look for meaningful ways to connect with our residents and celebrate the things that bring joy to their lives. National Pet Day gave us the perfect opportunity to reflect on the special bond between people and their pets.

Sharing Memories of Beloved Pets Residents, families and staff came together to share photos and stories of their pets, both past and present. This created a wonderful opportunity to reminisce, spark conversation and reflect on the happiness that animals bring into our lives.

A Special Visit from Eddie the Golden Retriever The highlight of the day was a visit from Eddie, a friendly and clever Golden Retriever, whose wagging tail and gentle nature brought smiles to everyone he met. Residents enjoyed spending time with Eddie, giving him plenty of attention and affection.

Many residents joked that he should stay as Friary Care’s very own dog.

The Positive Impact of Animals in Care Homes Spending time with animals can have a powerful impact on wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, encourage interaction and bring comfort. Eddie’s visit highlighted just how beneficial these moments can be for residents, creating joy and meaningful engagement.

Celebrations like National Pet Day are an important part of life at Friary Care. By organising activities that encourage reminiscence, connection and happiness, we support both emotional wellbeing and a strong sense of community.

Our National Pet Day celebration was truly unforgettable, reminding us all of the lasting impact pets have on our hearts. It was a day filled with smiles, stories and shared joy, reflecting the caring and vibrant environment we are proud to provide at Friary Care in Weymouth.
