Celebrating the Heart of Westgate Healthcare This Nurses Day

Across every home at Westgate Healthcare, International Nurses Day was a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate the incredible people who are at the very heart of everything we do, our nurses.

Every day, our nursing teams provide compassionate care, reassurance and support to residents and their families. Their dedication goes far beyond clinical care; They create comfort in difficult moments and bring warmth and compassion into our homes each and every day. Without their commitment and skills Westgate Healthcare simply would not be what it is today.

This year, homes across Westgate Healthcare came together to recognise and thank their nurses in different ways, celebrating the difference they make in the lives of so many.

St Pauls Care Centre At St Pauls Care Centre, celebrations took place in the garden. Nurses enjoyed fresh fruit, sweet treats, and thoughtful gifts of pens. These were given as a small token of appreciation. The day reflected the gratitude felt by residents, families and colleagues for their work. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the care and positivity they share with everyone around them.

Westgate House Care Centre Westgate House celebrated their incredible nursing team with delicious food, cake, drinks and thoughtful gifts as colleagues came together to say thank you. The celebrations highlighted the dedication and kindness shown by nurses to residents and their families throughout the year and served as a reminder of how valued and appreciated they truly are.

Burford House Care Home At Burford House, International Nurses Day was a chance to recognise the compassion, strength and commitment shown by the nursing team.. The home proudly celebrated the everyday heroes who continually go above and beyond to provide comfort, reassurance and exceptional care to residents.

Tinashe, Deputy Manager – “I am incredibly proud of the team here at Burford House. I feel very fortunate to work alongside such caring, dedicated nurses who consistently go above and beyond for our residents. Their compassion, teamwork, and commitment to providing outstanding care make a real difference every single day, and I am truly grateful to be part of such a supportive and passionate team.”

Hampden Hall Care Centre Hampden Hall made sure their nurses felt especially celebrated with cakes, sandwiches and drinks shared together throughout the day. Nurses reflected on the moments that inspired them to pursue their careers and the journeys that led them into care, creating a celebration filled with gratitude, laughter and appreciation. The day highlighted not only their professional dedication, but also the passion and heart they bring to their roles every day.

Byron House Care Home At Byron House, the team took the opportunity to celebrate and thank their wonderful nurses for the care they provide. The home shared heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and hard work that makes a meaningful difference to residents’ lives. Recognising the vital role nurses play within the home and the wider Westgate Healthcare family.

Kingfisher Nursing Home At Kingfisher, nurses enjoyed a lovely afternoon of recognition and celebration. Head Chef Gary made a beautiful cake, and everyone enjoyed it. Home Manager, Emilia shared heartfelt words of thanks and presented gifts. Nurse Soonita made the celebrations even more special by kindly gifting bracelets to each of her fellow nurses. A thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflected the kindness and support shared within the team.

Gary, Head Chef – “ Baking a cake is a small way to show my appreciation for everything they do. Their care, kindness, and dedication to our residents are truly inspiring, and it felt special to be able to celebrate them and say thank you for their incredible work.”

Recognising Our Everyday Heroes International Nurses Day is an important reminder of the impact nurses have every single day. Across Westgate Healthcare, our nurses are not only caregivers, but leaders, listeners, advocates and companions to the residents.
