A retirement village in Witney has gone above and beyond to celebrate International Nurses Day, by personally visiting local healthcare facilities to thank nurses and healthcare workers for their incredible dedication and compassion.

Staff from Richmond Villages Witney, led by Clinical Lead Abbie Shepherd and Village Manager Martin Crick, visited local healthcare facilities across Witney to show genuine appreciation to the nurses who work hard to make a big difference. Their visits took them to Witney Community Hospital, EMU, Linfoot Ward, Wenrisc Ward, Windrush Medical Practice, Cogges Surgery, and The Nuffield Practice, as well as celebrating the nursing team within the village.

To show their gratitude, the team delivered carefully prepared gift bags filled with treats and essentials to each location - a small but heartfelt gesture to acknowledge the hard work and compassion nurses bring to their roles every single day.

Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages Witney, said: "We are incredibly grateful to our nurses for the kindness and expertise they bring every day to residents living with us. This International Nurses Day, we wanted to step away from simply acknowledging their work and show up in person to say thank you. Whether they're working in our village or out in the community, nurses deserve to know how much they're appreciated. It was truly special to visit each location and see the smiles on their faces."

Abbie Shepherd, Clinical Lead, added: "Our nurses are extraordinary. They work with such compassion and dedication, often going far beyond what's expected. International Nurses Day felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate them properly and remind them that their hard work doesn't go unnoticed. The visits were wonderful, there's something really meaningful about taking the time to turn up and say thank you in person."
