All staff been very friendly and helpful with advice that has been very helpful. Only found shower water pressure too strong but am 85. Nice meadowland walk to use, could even use for a holiday.

Mum has been on the care floor at Witney since January 2024; she had moved into the village as an independent lady in 2015 during the building phase and then to assisted living 8 years later. Throughout her journey at Richmond Village Witney she has experienced nothing but genuine care and help. All
the staff have been exemplary from the team helping to buy and sell her various properties, the dom care team on assisted living and all the care staff on Mulberry. They take everything in their stride, are calm and caring. I am fully informed of how Mum is by email and calls if necessary. Everyone is friendly and approachable, the girls who come into clean always have a chat too. I can visit at any time which fits in with my schedule too.
Reply from Carla Timms, Senior Village Adviser at Richmond Villages WitneyWe very much appreciate your kind words Caroline, we will ensure they are shared with the team.
Many Thanks
Carla

I came to Richmond Villages for 3 weeks respite care after a debilitating illness. I came in a very weak state but in those 3 weeks with the care staff and excellent food I am leaving well on the way to a full recovery.
On the negative side my biggest complaint was my bed which was so uncomfortable
that I had very little sleep. My one observation of the daily meal routine is that supper at 5 pm through to breakfast usually after 9 am is too long between 2 main meals, although I appreciate there are always drinks/snacks available.
My final praise must go to the hospitality staff who brightened up each day.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for taking the time to write a review and praise our team who supported you during your recent respite stay. I take on board your comments about the comfort of the bed, which I shall discuss with the relevant team.

I am blessed to have been nearly a year on the care floor at Richmond Villages Witney. I have been happy and cared for and even loved. These many women and men do something truly honourable: they clean up, they laugh, they bandage, they administer care and hope and wisdom. They work wonderfully as a
team - the carers, nurses, hostesses, activities team and management. They do all this for me and every resident here - giving meaning to the term "patient-centred care". They wipe our tears, hold our hand, and 12 hours a day and 12 hours a night, they remind us there is life and joy still to be had. I thank them all, truly, and recommend the care floor with all my heart.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for your kind comments, we as a team are truly delighted to have you here with us. Your positivity, happiness, determination and joy is endless.

My 99yr old mother in law moved to Richmond Village for an initial 3 week respite stay after a couple of falls. We extended this weekly for a while and eventually decided to make the move permanent. This was because we realised that the fantastic care package offered and tailored to individual needs
was exactly what she needed and beyond what we could find elsewhere. She had a room overlooking the croquet lawn. Staff really are very discrete and hard working. The senior nursing staff helped with a health care application. There is a regular programme provided by the Activities team who encourage residents to join in but there is no pressure to participate. She was very particular about her food but found very little which wasn't to her taste. The restaurant staff were always friendly. Visiting family often commented it was like an hotel. Moving to Richmond was absolutely the right thing and I think it's fair to say that residents and staff get to know each other as individuals.

Having started his journey with Richmond Village in Witney in an independent living flat nearly ten years ago my father is now permanently on the Care Floor. Here he has a lovely light room overlooking the gardens and is close to the shared living/dining area which means there are always staff and
other residents passing by. He moved to the Care Floor when his mobility started deteriorating and he needed medical care, as a family this gave us great peace of mind, we knew he was being looked after. The nursing and care staff are absolutely amazing, always cheerful and ready to chat whilst doing their duties. Dad is still very much involved with the activities provided by a very enthusiastic team downstairs in the hub of the village where he is able to interact with residents living in other areas of Richmond. All the staff from the maintenance team, the cleaners, the hospitality team, the lovely receptionists, carers and nurses are just wonderful, so kind and always smiling.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for taking the time to submit your review, its great that Dad has the benefit of being supported for his care needs on the care floor and still visits friends and the facilities in the wider village. Dad is such a popular person with all the residents and team at Witney. His positivity shines through

Martin

I'm husband to a relatively young person at Witney Richmond. My wife, Nuala, is disabled and she is in for a long-term respite stay. The experience has been so positive. She has proper care - especially lots of really kind, personal human interaction. She's made proper friends with staff and residents.
The spa facilities have been amazing, the food has been great - and, again, real personal warmth everywhere.
Nuala and I have four kids ages 10-12. So it was a huge leap for us booking into RV. But the kids visit often (and are made very welcome) and it's been easy for Nuala to make trips home as often as she wants. Nuala isn't a typical resident, but she's been made to feel really welcome and really included. Her stay here hasn't felt like a response to a crisis situation. It's been more like a period of rest and healing that she really needed. It's been a source of reassurance to me to know that my beautiful wife is being so well cared for. So thank you: the experience has been a joy.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for the positive response and I know from chatting to your dear wife that her regular stays here enhance her rest and healing. Positive to know that the team, care, property along with the wellbeing Spa facilities and constant access for you and the children supports.

Martin

Have been thoroughly impressed with the care given to my mother. All of the staff seem very friendly, caring and skilled and the accommodation and food are really good. Like a lot of people I guess my mother wasn't keen on "losing her independence" but she has been very happy with the care and service
she has received.

My husband was diagnosed with IBM( a form of muscular dystrophy with no treatment available) in 2013. We made the decision to move to Richmond in 2016 and he has coped with Dom Care help until end of August this year when he could no longer stand or transfer. He was immediately offered respite care
on the care floor as he required hoisting up from bed and back to bed at the end of the day. He initially had 3 weeks respite while I prepared his flat for his return. However he felt so much safer on the care floor and received the care and attention that he needed. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and he made the decision to stay permanently. Not everything is perfect but we have been very impressed with the staff and the care and he has settled in very well. He is very grateful for the kind attention of the care team and the help and advice from the head, the clinical lead and the nurses.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you for taking the time to convey your experiences, it is good to know that the transition from assisted living to the care floor has been a positive move. Looking forward to catching up with you to discuss the areas that will make it perfect for you both. Great to know the team and the care they deliver has enabled him to settle in. Kind Regards,
Martin

It is now some 4 months since the passing of my father-in-law. I thought now might be an appropriate time to offer a word of warning to those who might be thinking of moving their relative to the Care Floor.
My advice, based on our own experience, is to be very careful. Some aspects are very good,
others, and in our experience this includes important elements of care ranging from handling, through hydration to hygiene, are poor. It may help you to know that both CQC and the local authority have done inspections recently based on concerns and complaints raised. Checkout their reports, they are more than fair, if not a little generous, in their ratings. Want to know more, ask to be put in contact with the friends and families group for home. Finally, I would be grateful if this review is not met with the usual BUPA response of 'please get in contact etc.'. I have made our views very plain over and very little has improved, to respond now would frankly be disrespectful.

Dad was a resident at Richmond Village Witney for about two years. Firstly in one of the assisted living suites and then for the last months of his life on the nursing home floor. Whilst it had taken some persuading for him to move from his home, once he got there he loved it. The staff were great
- nothing was too much bother. There were activities which he could participate in or not and there were always other residents around who he could sit and chat to. The facilities were very high quality and there was always plenty of good food. As it became clear that he needed more care it made things so much easier that he could just move to a different part of the Village. He could continue with some of the activities that he loved and also had care from people who knew and looked out for him. From my perspective the communications with the staff at RV were excellent. They saw him everyday and were able to help me to make the best choices for him.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyIt was an absolute pleasure to have Dad with us at Richmond Village Witney, from his days in assisted living through to looking after him on the care floor. He is missed by residents and staff alike. The comfort for us is that the team supported him in living his best possible life, seeing his positivity, cheerfulness and constant smile. A true Gent.

I have been to other care homes and Richmond Village Witney is very good. When I came to look around with 2 friends we were greeted and made to feel welcome. Even my friend said she could see me being happy here. After our show round we stayed for lunch and the outside grounds are fantastic. I came
for 3 weeks respite in January to try it out and everyone is so helpful and caring and cheerful. Having had such a great stay I decided to move to Richmond care home permanently and moved in at beginning of April to a beautiful room that I am over the moon with. There are facilities for the hydro pool and sauna which are great and lots of activities to get involved in plus trips out and supper clubs and entertainment. All the staff from the housekeepers, carers and up to the management are very helpful and you can speak to the manger at anytime if you wish to - and I was very honoured to be invited onto the mangers table at the monthly supper club. Also I am making lots of new friends.

After a period of 8 years living independently at Richmond, Mum was unexpectedly moved on to Willow floor for palliative care in December 2024.

The staff were caring, helpful and sympathetic. They took an interest in her previous life and endeavoured to keep her comfortable during her last few weeks.

They took time to find foods and textures which she could manage to consume. Our family were happy with the care Mum received and also the support for her relatives.
Thank you.

After 3 years in the care floor the only word I can use to describe the care received is poor! There are some excellent carers, although they appear to be given very little support and guidance! We have had lots of lost property - new clothing brought in and lost! New clothes ripped then stuffed in
the back of drawers. Communication is a very big problem, emails ignored, concerns from family not addressed! Or when chasing up issues we then discover yet another member of staff has left - over the 3 years there has been several changes of head of care leading to lack of continuity. RVW - rather than using a 'use it or lose it' approach, are much happier using 'let's ensure they lose it as quickly as possible' such as using a hoist rather than encouraging residents to walk. My family member was told to use his pad when asked to go to the toilet! There is a certain lack of independence and lack of dignity. Richmond Villages and BUPA all seem to be happy with this lack of care!
