My sister was in the nursing home and received end of life care.
The nursing and care staff provided compassionate and professional care to her and the rest of the family who were able to spend time with her.
There was humour but also a very knowledgeable and professional level to her care, but the
rest of the nursing home team including hostesses and housekeeping were very friendly.
The room overlooked a wonderful view of the grounds and pond.

The staff at Richmond, Willow nursing floor have gone well above and beyond to care for my mother. They are so kind and understanding of her needs, her increasing frailty and sometimes confusion. They put themselves out to listen and care and I have been most impressed and encouraged. Thank you all

My father came into Richmond Witney for 16 nights for respite.
When viewing Richmond I felt very confident that he would be safe and well cared for.
His room was very comfortable and well equipped. Plenty of activities and good food.
The Village setting is in lovely well kept grounds.

Richmond and all the staff have provided excellent care whilst my mother was a resident. My mother was taken unwell and subsequently passed away. During this time I could not praise all the staff highly enough for the care, kindness and consideration shown at all times to my mother and the family.

The administrative and care staff at Richmond Village were supportive, flexible and did their best to help in very complex and trying circumstances. While there were occasional glitches in communication between departments this is to be expected in any organisation and issues were dealt with effectively.
The food was excellent and again, specific requests were well met, if not always without a little prompting.

The difference in my mother since she moved to Richmond Witney is astonishing. She has started joining in with the varied choice of activities and particularly enjoys the singing on a Monday afternoon. The staff are so helpful and patient and mum frequently tells me how kind they are to her. The standard
of the food is very high and even though eating was an issue at her previous nursing home, mum has actually put on weight since her arrival in Richmond Witney. Because she has grown trust the people who care for her and because of their kindness and gentle persuasion mum will pretty much do anything she is asked to, including showering, which was previously a very unpleasant, traumatic experience for all involved. I am so happy mum has the privilege of living in such a beautiful place being looked after by such dedicated and genuinely caring people.

My husband has been here for two months and I am very impressed by the informal, caring, friendly atmosphere. At mealtimes shared with staff and visitors, it feels like a large family dining table. Simple food suitable to the tastes of 80-year-olds is served with personal attention to foibles. The
administrative staff have gon our of their way to be available for requests. The entertainment team are immensely flexible.

My client entered Richmond Witney at the end of January 2018 for a temporary stay which has resulted in a permanent stay. The staff have been wonderful and extremely accommodating. They have gone above and beyond what is expected of them and more than you would normally receive in other care homes.
The facilities and standard of accommodation at Richmond Witney are exceptional.

I was seriously ill after Christmas 2017 and extremely well looked after in the care home, for which I am extremely grateful. Richmond Witney is perfect, nothing is ever too much trouble to the staff and I feel very much at home here surrounded by many friends. It is very much as I hoped it would be.

Following my diploma in Hotel Catering & Management I opened my own business - Bristol Cathedral Restaurants – which incorporated the Cathedral coffee shop, the school catering franchise and the Norman Chapter House event catering.


When I moved to Oxford I had a change of career direction and started working at a special needs school in Abingdon, so rewarding to see how the children benefitted from the specialist teaching facility there.


In November 2016 I was offered the position of Head of Activities here at Richmond Witney and started here on the very day our main building opened. In 2022 I took on the Deputy Village Manager role alongside the Head of Activities. I love working here – every day is different – and hope to make our residents lives fulfilling.

Job Title: Head of Care

My name is Denise Cleaver, and I am the Head of Care for the nursing floor at Richmond Villages Witney. On the care floor, we care and support people who have a nursing need or are people living with Dementia. I am a qualified nurse R.N.M.H. and have a level 5 registered manager's award as well as a Diploma in management through the Institute of Management.


I have worked in the care field for thirty years, starting as a care assistant and then completing my nursing course. Since that time, I have worked in Management for charities, the NHS or in private nursing homes.


Person centred care is at the heart of what I believe, and I enjoy working with teams and colleagues and families to ensure that each person we support is at the heart of what we do, I am proud that the nursing homes I have supported in the past who had improved in quality to obtain good ratings with CQC, and gained positive reputations in their communities.


I am looking forward to working with Richmond Villages, whose philosophies line up with my own.
