Richmond Villages have been providing prestigious retirement communities for over 25 years. Part of Bupa, their mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The most reassuring aspect of a Richmond Village is having the facilities and services all in one place to help you respond to every twist and turn life takes. Support varies at each location, but across Richmond Villages they offer residential, nursing and dementia care. In 2021, Richmond Villages opened the UK's first specialist dementia centre, Richmond Willaston, inspired by the Dutch household model, enabling residents to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

Set in the heart of each village within a bright, vibrant community, each home is beautifully presented with wide spacious corridors leading to private rooms with en-suite for residents. Alongside care delivery, their passion is to provide some wonderful on site facilities enabling you to keep as fit and healthy as you can, with many of the villages offering state-of-the-art Wellness Spas.

Richmond Villages is a special place where new beginnings start and quality memories are made.

The care for mum during November 2025 has been, as always, exemplary. The carers are kind, patient and compassionate. They always attend to all her needs the best they can, make her comfortable and make sure she has food she likes, encouraging her to eat without forcing her, and always respecting her
wishes. She is given all the time she needs, never rushed, and nothing is too much for them to do. They have done a super job keeping her clean and comfortable. This month she stopped wanting to eat for a couple of days because of her teeth. Luckily, they managed to remove them, clean them and put them back in, all whilst maintaining her dignity and calm, so she did not get anxious or stressed. She has had all her needs met and is happy and content. The whole team looking after her could not have cared for her in a better way or shown any more kindness, and patience. Every day they work with dedication and professionalism and mum could not be happier and more comfortable.

Like finding an oasis in the dessert.
A delightful purpose built retirement home. Extremely well furnished of the highest standard. Not cheap but needless to say very good value for your money.
On moving in I was taken back by the peace ad comfort the rooms radiated staff at all levels were most
courteous and kind. An important attitude to have as residents get older. I have decided after a busy career in aviation to spend my remaining years to reside here.
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamWow what a wonderful description of the amazing care home we have being an Oasis in the desert. My husband was diagnosed with IBM( a form of muscular dystrophy with no treatment available) in 2013. We made the decision to move to Richmond in 2016 and he has coped with Dom Care help until end of August this year when he could no longer stand or transfer. He was immediately offered respite care
on the care floor as he required hoisting up from bed and back to bed at the end of the day. He initially had 3 weeks respite while I prepared his flat for his return. However he felt so much safer on the care floor and received the care and attention that he needed. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and he made the decision to stay permanently. Not everything is perfect but we have been very impressed with the staff and the care and he has settled in very well. He is very grateful for the kind attention of the care team and the help and advice from the head, the clinical lead and the nurses.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you for taking the time to convey your experiences, it is good to know that the transition from assisted living to the care floor has been a positive move. Looking forward to catching up with you to discuss the areas that will make it perfect for you both. Great to know the team and the care they deliver has enabled him to settle in. Kind Regards,
Martin

Mum has been a resident at Richmond Village Willaston for about 14months now. The carers are fantastic with mum, were very quick to get to know her likes/dislikes, the seniors are very attentive with mums care and provide the family with updates on mum on each visit.

More recently the number of carers

available to the residents has been reduced however, which has made a noticeable affect on their morale in general. Despite this the carers are always very professional, attentive and caring towards residents.

The rooms/accommodation is always extremely clean and all personal care is professionally undertaken and with exteme dignity.

I no longer worry about mum, knowing she has the support, care and comfort she needs. I would ask the facility to not cut any more carers and to look for savings elsewhere if increasing costs are becoming an issue, especially as residents costs increase each year.

Carers are very compassionate and caring towards residents. Staff are very welcoming to visitors and make you feel comfortable. If I have a query, it is dealt with pretty quickly and a resolution is normally found quickly. I do feel that there are not enough carers to help residents at times. My Mum
eels that she has to wait quite a while sometimes when she needs assistance to go to the toilet. Also, there needs to be more care and attention to residents needing dentistry, foot care and eye care. My Mum has been at Willaston for nearly two years and has still not seen a dentist. I had tried a couple of times to ask for her to see one but still it has not happened.
Overall, lovely place to live and I feel comfortable and reassured that Mum's needs are being met.

Richmond Village Nantwich provided a home from home environment for Mum whilst we were away.
Every person we came into contact with was friendly and professional and we were particularly impressed with the pre-admission visit at home.
Mum got to stay in a beautifully decorated room with a balcony

To know your loved one is being well cared for in such a beautiful place is a real comfort and we would definitely recommend.
Mum hopes to stay again when we are away next time.

I moved into the care home in May 2025 due to my care needs changing. I wouldn't be able to find anywhere better than where I am even if I tried. My whole attitude has improved since coming to Dovedale. The level of care is 10/10. I have got to know the people on the floor and it has improved my socialisation.
I am much happier day by day. We all look out for each other.

Mum had a lovely 3-week stay in September. First time at Cheltenham having been to Painswick last year. We lost dad in February so this was first time away on her own, and it was so nice to find out that she was taken to the restaurant to sit with 'Stella' for lunch every day. She has lost a little
confidence in that she has mobility problems but am so grateful that she was taken to the seated exercise classes; she also really enjoyed the visit by the 'birds of prey lady' and also the singer :)
Mum loved the gardens which I was able to wheel her around when visiting; would be nice if that could happen with the help of the carers but understand resources and time likely at a premium.
Mum had a really nice room with a good view and the lovely staff were attentive, good humoured and caring. Have noticed other reviews and have to say we ALSO have referred to it as Richmond Hotel - it really has that feel!
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamThank you so much for your kind words, it is lovely to hear how well your Mun settled and to recognise all the activities and events we offer here, it has been an absolute pleasure supporting your Mum and really hope to welcome her back again soon. Leaving 1 star only because 0 stars is not an option

I would not wish this facility on my worst enemy. Do not send your loved ones here, the service our family received was awful, and when we complained we received a response with no apology, no indication that things would change in future and

no regret for the stress that our family suffered.

The management at this Home should be ashamed of themselves and I hope no other family has to suffer what we did.

Reply from Debra Cosgrove, Village Manager at Richmond Bede VillageI'm sorry to hear that your family member's stay did not meet expectations. Please accept our sincere apologies - it was never our intention for the experience to be anything less than positive, and we regret any unnecessary stress this may have caused. We truly hope you've since found a more suitable placement that better meets your family's needs.

I cannot recommend Richmond Village, Cheltenham highly enough, it is a very special place.
Both of my parents suffered from dementia and spent the last years of their lives in Mandarin. Dementia is a complex and challenging condition, but together they worked with me to understand them both and to
support them to the highest standard. I genuinely felt the carers treated them both like a member of their own families and both of my parents just adored the carers. Sufferers of dementia are included in the life of the home and invited to all events, they are supported in being accepted by the carers. The carers at Richmond Village go above and beyond for the residents and for their families. I cannot thank them enough.

Richmond Village is beautifully presented with delightful gardens. The permanent staff are very friendly, kind and helpful. It is unfortunate that agency staff need to be used as they seem to be less well trained and sometimes are brusque and less considerate to residents needs.

Dad was given a warm welcome in my absence, which was a massive reassurance when making arrangements remotely. He was able to participate in a wide range of activities. Staff were polite and courteous to him and his visitors. As the grounds were wheelchair friendly he was able to be independent on
his scooter. He thoroughly enjoyed his stay - thank you
Reply from Allyson Attward, Manager / Head of Care at Richmond Villages NantwichWe're so pleased to hear that you feel confident and reassured about the care and support that your father received on his recent stay with us. Our team works hard to create a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment, and knowing that this is reflected in your experience is incredibly rewarding. Your kind words will be shared with the staff, and I am sure they will be genuinely touched. It was a privilege to care for your father, and we're grateful for the trust you placed in us.

Richmond Villages Witney

It is now some 4 months since the passing of my father-in-law. I thought now might be an appropriate time to offer a word of warning to those who might be thinking of moving their relative to the Care Floor.
My advice, based on our own experience, is to be very careful. Some aspects are very good,
others, and in our experience this includes important elements of care ranging from handling, through hydration to hygiene, are poor. It may help you to know that both CQC and the local authority have done inspections recently based on concerns and complaints raised. Checkout their reports, they are more than fair, if not a little generous, in their ratings. Want to know more, ask to be put in contact with the friends and families group for home. Finally, I would be grateful if this review is not met with the usual BUPA response of 'please get in contact etc.'. I have made our views very plain over and very little has improved, to respond now would frankly be disrespectful.

My experience here at Bede Village has been very good. After finding the suite I wished to buy management were very helpful with making this possible. After being here nearly four months I am pleased to say that I am very happy here and have made lots of new friends. I would like to say how kind and
helpful all the staff have been to me.
