Richmond Villages have been providing prestigious retirement communities for over 25 years. Part of Bupa, their mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The most reassuring aspect of a Richmond Village is having the facilities and services all in one place to help you respond to every twist and turn life takes. Support varies at each location, but across Richmond Villages they offer residential, nursing and dementia care. In 2021, Richmond Villages opened the UK's first specialist dementia centre, Richmond Willaston, inspired by the Dutch household model, enabling residents to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

Set in the heart of each village within a bright, vibrant community, each home is beautifully presented with wide spacious corridors leading to private rooms with en-suite for residents. Alongside care delivery, their passion is to provide some wonderful on site facilities enabling you to keep as fit and healthy as you can, with many of the villages offering state-of-the-art Wellness Spas.

As a family we have been very lucky to have found a place at Willaston for Mum. It's the nearest thing to her living in her own home. The carers are skilled at encouraging her to mobilise, socialise and eat - all important for those with dementia. The admin and reception staff are reassuring to residents
and are always welcoming and ready to offer moral support to visitors after difficult visits. The maintenance team, cleaners, caterers, entertainment staff and gardeners are dedicated to creating a safe and pleasant environment. Finally the senior carers and managers are always available and ready to help sort out issues, even the tricky ones using their extensive experience. I would unhesitatingly recommend Richmond Villages Willaston.

My sister has been at the Painswick Richmond Village for some years now, first of all renting, now owning her own apartment.
She settled in well from the start, and she enjoys all the facilities, and the kind and friendly and helpful staff.
If she feels tired, she can rest , quietly, in her own space,
but, also greatly enjoys the company of other residents, and the garden and the pool.
Some of the activities she joins in with, art, music, singing, poetry reading, films, exercise classes, talks but does not feel obliged to do anything if she does not feel like it.
being a kind lady, she will chat with other residents , and enjoys hearing their stories. etc and helping new residents settle in . As her sister, it a great comfort to me that she is in a comfortable, luxurious ! home.

Reply from Samantha Walker, Care home Manager at Richmond Villages Painswick

Before moving mum into care, I thoroughly investigated local alternatives before deciding on here. The place is lovely and the grounds team are passionate about their work. The building (and across the retirement village) has the ambience of a good hotel. Décor and furnishings are all to a high standard.
The staff are great.
Management, maintenance, the staff in the laundry, restaurant, reception, activities team.and those that keep everything clean and tidy, they all convey the professionalism you would expect from company under the healthcare provider umbrella. The nursing/care staff are real professionals and convey genuine patience and kindness. You can't be trained to do that. These are qualities people start to nurture in their childhood. It is something you just have or don't have. The leadership team can be very proud of all their staff. Beyond the lovely building and grounds, the nice décor, the clean and tidy environment, it is the people here that make the difference.

Firstly, I Would like to thank you for taking time in completing the review. We are so pleased you chose our home to look after mum. My husband has been resident on the nursing care floor at Richmond for some 3 years and throughout that time his care has been excellent and consistently so. As his needs changed his care has been adapted accordingly to meet those needs. The staff keep me updated and liaise with me regarding his care
and someone is always available to speak to me if I have my worries or concerns. He is always treated with kindness, dignity and respect by all the wonderful staff and this is extended to myself which always makes visiting a real pleasure. The home and the facilities provided are excellent as are all the amazing staff that contribute to making it so.

The care given to my mum by all the staff at Richmond Nursing Home, was outstanding. It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it that makes all the difference. The staff, were professional, kind, caring, they engaged with my mum at all times ensuring that her personal needs were met. Certain staff,
went over and above, with their one to one caring, nursing, nutritional, housekeeping, laundry, admin and managerial roles to ensure my mum's need's were not just met, but exceeded. They also took care of me when required.

I call the Richmond Village the Richmond Hotel. It's an amazing place. My friend is in after having a hip operation and I feel I can visit and take her out any time that I want. She is free to come and go when she wants. When visiting we feel welcome and she is looking well and treated with dignity.
As
a restbite place I would totally recommend this care home.

My Mother came to Richmond Care Home shortly after her 95th Birthday. After a while she became very happy with all the activities provided by an amazing team. She realised she was experiencing a good social life and lots of varied entertainments. In fact, I could see that she had a 'new lease of life'
which lasted quite a long time.
Sadly, as she became more poorly, she needed more care and help. The nursing and care staff were once again an amazing team. Second to none!
My family and I were always welcomed by Receptionists who were helpful and understanding. This was particularly appreciated by me on my many visits to see Mum.

Many thanks are due to All Staff

Again an excellent home, meeting old and new staff. They are always so helpful, polite, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Help you if you want but they will let you try. From front of house the restaurant and kitchen, whole behind the scenes all work together to make ones stay excellent. This
place has cracked the nut for retirement, independent life with care if needed. Beautiful grounds, activities if you wish but also you can have your solitude. The team are excellent which reflects in the leader- well done thank you.

Excellent support for my Dad while he was there for 2 weeks recovering from a hospital stay. Staff were all friendly, thoughtful and so attentive. Dad raved about the food and - rather unusually - cleaned every plate for a fortnight! There were only 2 staff for the wing at night which meant quite a
wait sometimes if more than 2 residents' buzzers went off, and the staff changeover into evening was very evident in the amount of contact that was possible. The home itself was spotless and kept at a reallly good temperature for older people who feel the cold. Everyone from the top management, the care staff and assistants and support staff genuinely seem to love their jobs and were all caring and thoughtful. My family wouldn't hesitate to recommend Richmond Villages.

When my Mums health deteriorated, we as a family had to make the difficult decision to move our dear Mum, aged 99 years into a nursing home. We are so glad we found Bede. Mums final months were spent contentedly, the care was outstanding, the team are so dedicated. We were totally supported and able
to make many happy memories with Mum, from sing-alongs to walks in the grounds, games of cards, face painting, and family meals together, such treasured memories. During such a difficult time Mum was surrounded by an environment of dedication, care and great fun and laughs along the way and for that we are forever thankful.

Because of the seriousness and rapid decline of her health due to her illness our Aunty was only a resident at Richmond Lodge for a few weeks but in that short time her family realised that Aunty had made the right decision and that Richmond Lodge was the perfect place for her.

The level of dedication,

kindness, and care given to Aunty by all members of staff, especially the wonderful medical team of nurses was immeasurable. We would like to thank you all for making Aunty's last few weeks so bearable.

We found Richmond Lodge to be a happy and very pleasant environment to be in and would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking that extra step into much-needed care.

My Mother who had always lived in her own home, moved to Bede Village in July 2024 living there until she died in Dec 2024. It is such a lovely place to take care of loved ones; staff are wonderful and have such an excellent team spirit. Mum's room was excellent and the food very good too. Nothing was
too much trouble for all the staff. As well as the excellent carers, staff from catering, laundry, and cleaners were always "popping in" to have a chat. There was always lots going on: singers, musicians, card games and, my Mum's particular favourite, local school children visiting. Mum was happy, enjoying the food, the care and attention she received. When we visited we were made very welcome. In Dec, Mum's health deteriorated and the staff were so dedicated in helping her and supportive to the family. Mum died peacefully 2 months before her 100th birthday. We take comfort in knowing that in her final months she was so well cared for in a place as "close to home" as could be managed.
