Richmond Villages have been providing prestigious retirement communities for over 25 years. Part of Bupa, their mission is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The most reassuring aspect of a Richmond Village is having the facilities and services all in one place to help you respond to every twist and turn life takes. Support varies at each location, but across Richmond Villages they offer residential, nursing and dementia care. In 2021, Richmond Villages opened the UK's first specialist dementia centre, Richmond Willaston, inspired by the Dutch household model, enabling residents to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

Set in the heart of each village within a bright, vibrant community, each home is beautifully presented with wide spacious corridors leading to private rooms with en-suite for residents. Alongside care delivery, their passion is to provide some wonderful on site facilities enabling you to keep as fit and healthy as you can, with many of the villages offering state-of-the-art Wellness Spas.

Our Mother has been a resident in the care home for about 9 weeks now and despite our concerns about moving here from the home she was in previously in Surrey she has despite her early dimentia settled in as well or better than could have been expected.
All of the care floor staff are amazing and totally
dedicated to the residents providing a great deal of support and understanding to Mum who is an amazing 97 years old!
We all know that the success of any business is from the top downwards and so our compliments to a very well run and organsided facility go to the management.
An excellent amount of activities each day help the day pass by easier and we look forward to the warmer months to enjoy the lovely grounds with Mum.
It is really nice to have the facilities when visiting which many other homes dont offer like being able to have lunch or dinner in the main restaurant or refreshments in the coffee lounge with Mum.
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamWow what a lovely review such kind words that certainly go along way to feedback to such a hard working team, to recognise the fantastic activities and the dedication is amazing. It is a pleasure supporting your mother and thank you so much for sharing your experience. Best of wishes Cara (Village Manager)

In 2022 my sisters and I were faced with the devastating decision to place our amazingly independent Mother into nursing care. This followed a stroke which caused right side paralysis.
Although diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018, the symptoms of the disease were mild and she was still safe and well
enough to live at home. The stroke changed all that and we reluctantly accepted that, despite our best efforts, we had neither the medical experience nor facilities to keep Mum at home. Placing in Mum in Richmond Willaston was the best decision we could have made. The staff across the board have been wonderful. They are caring, professional and welcoming. Requests or questions are dealt with promptly and we are absolutely secure in the knowledge that Mum is looked after to a standard that we ourselves would set with the added benefit of excellent nursing and personal care. My sisters and I are also made to feel welcome and listened to. Thank you all so much.
Reply from Lucia Briant, Marketing Manager at Richmond Villages WillastonDear Carol,
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. Knowing your mother is receiving the care, respect and kindness she deserves is exactly what our team strives for every day. It also means so much to hear how supported and welcome you and your family feel. Thank you for placing your trust in us.

My mother has been resident on the Care Floor for more than 2 years. She continues to be very well cared for, which puts our minds at ease. We know she is looked after now that we are no longer able to provide the level of support she needs. Despite her advanced dementia she enjoys the activities offered
and seems content. The staff are friendly and engage with residents, and with their families. I am very grateful for the kindness the staff show my mum and other residents.

Mum is a resident at Bede Village but after a short illness she used their respite facility. She was well looked after, the apartment was clean and well furnished and the staff helpful and efficient. Unfortunately after she moved back to her own apartment she needed further care. It was brilliant.
I asked for help and within an hour a care plan was in place and I could relax knowing she was in excellent hands. I cannot thank the staff at Bede Village enough and would thoroughly recommend the Village as an excellent place to retire to.
Reply from Debra Cosgrove, Village Manager at Richmond Bede VillageThank you so much for your lovely feedback. I'll be sure to pass your kind words on to the staff at Bede Village.

My mum has been a resident at Richmond Cheltenham since April 2024 and my dad from October 2024 until his death in May 2025. They had been living independently with help from family. Accepting the need for full time care was difficult, but the hotel feel of Richmond Cheltenham made this easier.
When
mum moved in the consultant geriatrician said her prognosis was poor. However, they had not factored in the outstanding level of care and nursing at Richmond Cheltenham.
Even when things are looking a bit bleak because mum's condition has progressed, I can leave her knowing that she is safe, well cared for, warm, hydrated and fed. Sadly she cannot participate in any of the activities and outings on offer. However I can absorb the happy and lively atmosphere as I walk from the reception to her room, and enjoy a chat with the friendly staff and residents.
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamWhat lovely words you have written. It is an absolute pleasure looking after your mum in the care home. I am so glad to hear that the vibrant village community supports not only your mum but you as well.

Having started his journey with Richmond Village in Witney in an independent living flat nearly ten years ago my father is now permanently on the Care Floor. Here he has a lovely light room overlooking the gardens and is close to the shared living/dining area which means there are always staff and
other residents passing by. He moved to the Care Floor when his mobility started deteriorating and he needed medical care, as a family this gave us great peace of mind, we knew he was being looked after. The nursing and care staff are absolutely amazing, always cheerful and ready to chat whilst doing their duties. Dad is still very much involved with the activities provided by a very enthusiastic team downstairs in the hub of the village where he is able to interact with residents living in other areas of Richmond. All the staff from the maintenance team, the cleaners, the hospitality team, the lovely receptionists, carers and nurses are just wonderful, so kind and always smiling.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for taking the time to submit your review, its great that Dad has the benefit of being supported for his care needs on the care floor and still visits friends and the facilities in the wider village. Dad is such a popular person with all the residents and team at Witney. His positivity shines through
Kind Regards,
Martin

Bede really is an exceptional place, it is decorated beautifully and has a real homely feel. But the most special thing about Bede is all the amazing staff. Everyone is friendly and cannot do enough for both dad and our family, it really is a team effort. From the carehome management, nursing staff,
carers, cleaners, activity team, hostesses, chefs, gardening team, reception team, laundry team, maintenance & driving teams. It really is a special and unique place and is first class all round.
We are so grateful for the care and support that dad receives every day from all the staff and do not hesitate in recommending the carehome.

My elderly Mum initially stayed at Richmond Villages Wood Norton for 2 weeks Respite Care on their care floor, following falls at home and subsequent hospitalisation. Following this period, she has now moved in on a permanent basis.
The care and support of all of the staff at WN has been amazing, nothing
is too much trouble and it has really helped my Mum in the transition from fiercely independent living into a new way of life. She has the security of someone always being there, 24/7, she is actively monitored to prevent further falls and is given all the assistance she needs. All in a very friendly and supportive environment. She is also able to partake in the regular activities and entertainments as and when she feels like it.
It has made a huge difference to her and to us also, relieving us of the constant worry and stress when she was on her own.

Richmond Painswick is an exceptionally good care home. The staff are wonderful and very caring and have built up excellent relationships with my father. There are plenty of activities and a welcoming restaurant with very good food.
Residents can join in as much as they like but also have the opportunity

Mum has dementia and it has worsened recently but the carers, manager and deputy manager there have been so kind, always going above and beyond for Mum as her condition has changed.
They always have suggestions to try approaching things differently with her care when her dementia means she's more
resistant sometimes.
A welcoming and very caring environment with the receptionists always greeting relatives with amazing knowledge of who they are and how Mum's been recently.
Mum's lucky to be able to be at Richmond Village at this stage of her life when she needs so much extra care and support.

Richmond Villages Witney

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I'm husband to a relatively young person at Witney Richmond. My wife, Nuala, is disabled and she is in for a long-term respite stay. The experience has been so positive. She has proper care - especially lots of really kind, personal human interaction. She's made proper friends with staff and residents.
The spa facilities have been amazing, the food has been great - and, again, real personal warmth everywhere.
Nuala and I have four kids ages 10-12. So it was a huge leap for us booking into RV. But the kids visit often (and are made very welcome) and it's been easy for Nuala to make trips home as often as she wants. Nuala isn't a typical resident, but she's been made to feel really welcome and really included. Her stay here hasn't felt like a response to a crisis situation. It's been more like a period of rest and healing that she really needed. It's been a source of reassurance to me to know that my beautiful wife is being so well cared for. So thank you: the experience has been a joy.
Reply from Martin Crick, Village Manager at Richmond Villages WitneyThank you so much for the positive response and I know from chatting to your dear wife that her regular stays here enhance her rest and healing. Positive to know that the team, care, property along with the wellbeing Spa facilities and constant access for you and the children supports.
Kind Regards,
Martin

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum lived at Richmond for just under 2 years until she sadly passed away. From the moment Mum was shown round the home until she passed she and the family were treated with kindness, respect and understanding. The staff are a real asset from the sales team, to housekeeping, reception, maintenance
and nursing, they all had time for Mum and made her feel like she was never a bother, despite some medical challenges.
I would recommend the home to anyone especially if you are nervous about placing your loved one in a home.
