Overall Experience
My dear Mother in Law moved into the nursing community at Wood Norton following a lengthy hospital stay, and with a range of care needs. The admission process was swift and well managed, and as a family we felt welcomed to the home.
Everything about the care and support my Mother in Law received was personalised and patient - her food needs and preferences, provision of medications, and the practical care given sensitively and thoughtfully.
The surroundings of the home, and the facilities and furnishings are to a high standard, but most importantly every member of the team we met was kind, considerate and competent.
Unfortunately my Mother in Law only lived in Wood Norton for a short period, and when she came to the end of her life the support given to us as a family was quietly attentive and really made a difference at this most difficult time.

The carers, nurses and Manager were exemplary in everything they did, and we cannot thank them enough.

My elderly Mum initially stayed at Richmond Villages Wood Norton for 2 weeks Respite Care on their care floor, following falls at home and subsequent hospitalisation. Following this period, she has now moved in on a permanent basis.
The care and support of all of the staff at WN has been amazing, nothing is too much trouble and it has really helped my Mum in the transition from fiercely independent living into a new way of life. She has the security of someone always being there, 24/7, she is actively monitored to prevent further falls and is given all the assistance she needs. All in a very friendly and supportive environment. She is also able to partake in the regular activities and entertainments as and when she feels like it.

It has made a huge difference to her and to us also, relieving us of the constant worry and stress when she was on her own.

My mother moved to Wood Norton in September 2023, initially for respite, then residency. It took her some time to adjust, but thanks to the wonderful and caring staff, she was soon happy. Whenever there has been a medical issue, it has been dealt with urgently, and the care provided exemplary. Even when the staff are under pressure, they remain calm and considerate.

The staff are incredibly kind and professional, making my dad feel at home and always loved. The facilities are very clean, warm and spacious. All the staff are attentive, professional, and genuinely care about the residents' wellbeing. Not only do they make my dad feel special but also when we visit the care and compassion we are shown is also second to none, if you are looking for a special place for a special person then I would highly recommend Wood Norton.

Our experience with the Wood Norton home has been very good, the meals - the service- the care and attention that the carers give also the medical service the nurses provide, all of these make my wife feel cared for, also for me when visiting my wife on a daily basis. The staff look after me. My wife has had a stroke which has affected all of her left hand side, she cannot walk, she needs to be hoisted out of bed into a wheelchair or onto a bed pan, this makes it all the more difficult for her, but with the help of carers and all the staff at Wood Norton, she is managing very well.

The care my dad has recieved has been second to none. From the moment we arrived & were greeted by a wonderful team of staff who straight away put both my dad & myself at ease & it was very apparent that he was in the right place & would be well cared for, indeed this has exceeded expectations. The staff are so thoughtful & Dad wants for nothing & they will even fetch him a glass of wine if he so wishes! This is a very hard time for our family but the atmosphere & light, clean & airy 'home' makes it a pleasure to visit.

Almost no words that can show my gratitude to the kindness, efficiency that all of the staff gave to both my Mum and me to make us welcome on her first day at the Wood Norton. They had everything ready for her arrival, well aware of the medication she requires, made sure everything was perfect. As it was VE Day there was a party for the residents (with special entertainers for the event), They let Mum settle into her new beautiful environment, fed her then asked if she would like to join in with the celebrations - well she did and my last look at her before I left to go home was Mum included in a round table with others - she was singing - what more could you ask for - this Nursing Homes is remarkable & the staff should receive every accolade - thank you

Both my parents have been resident at Wood Norton since July 24 within an assisted living apartment. Working closely with the team at WN it was decided that their needs could now only be met by moving them to the care floor. With the fact that my Mom suffers from Alzheimer's it meant that Mom has moved to Marlbrook Ward and Dad to Hanbury, the first time they had been apart in 70 years. The care and attention that the staff have given to make this work, going beyond the norm has been wonderful and working it so they still have valuable time together during the day.
We cannot thank everyone at Wood Norton enough, and that goes for staff in every function and at every level. At what are difficult times they are caring and fully understand the situation / issues involved.

Many thanks to everyone.

My sister and I are grateful that Hanbury care floor were able to welcome our mother with less than 48 hours notice after a fall, leaving her unable to move independently. The specialist equipment available on this floor means she is able to be showered and generally cared for with dignity.
The team liaise with local doctors practices, occupational and physiotherapists. They have organised hospital transport and provided additional equipment as required.
Staff are on call 24/7 and are kind, helpful, considerate, friendly and caring. They encourage mum to join in with activities both on the care floor and within the village generally.
The food is extremely good, there are always three choices for lunch, and the vegetarian option is appetising and appealing- so much so that our father often joins her for lunch!

Our parents are going to remain at Richmond Village in one of the assisted living suites where mum will have the benefit of domiciliary care in a caring and safe environment.

Mum came into a respite bed following a gas leak at home. Unfortunately she found the ward very noisy, phones weren't answered and her buzzer wasn't answered when she needed help. I had gone through the timings of her meds with the nursing staff (she has to take 2 at different times to the others) but this didn't happen. With one exception I was not very impressed with the staff, and the day I was told that the ward was not a hotel was the day I moved Mum out of the care wing and into the Assisted Living wing.

I was grateful that they took her as we were desperate but I would think twice if she needed to go back into the care wing.

After a short stay in hospital, Dad was unable to return to his suite in assisted living at Wood Norton, so he moved onto the care floor for palliative care. Hanbury staff looked after Dad very well for the final few weeks of his life, in a warm, caring, and friendly environment.

After my mother was discharged from Hospital, we decided to book her into Wood Norton Care Floor for respite care. Mum was there for three weeks and I am sure, if we had not placed her in the excellent care of the team at Wood Norton, she would not have recovered so well from her illness.
The environment was homely and relaxing, providing the perfect place to rest and recuperate. The care team was second to none, nothing was too much trouble. I observed many interactions between Mum and the staff, who were always friendly and respectful.

Mum left Wood Norton's Care Floor a much stronger person than when she arrived. We are very grateful to all the staff who helped her recover.

My mother came to Wood Norton for 3 weeks of Respite care.
She was looked after so well, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. They treated her as an individual and at no time did she feel their schedule was more important than she was.
Her room was immaculate, cleaned daily, and bright and airy.
The food was appetising, piping hot, beautifully presented, and very tasty. To begin with, she wasn't eating much so the kitchen made her an individual plate to suit her taste on the day.
She definitely recovered very well and rebuilt her confidence.
She is living independently back at home.

I would strongly recommend WN for any care requirements.

My mum was admitted to Richmond Villages Wood Norton last year, due to ill health and mobility issues. She had experienced a series of falls in a previous care home. We were well-supported throughout the whole process. We found it to be a clean, safe and well-run environment. Mum was treated with kindness, compassion and respect, as myself and my family were.
All staff from nurses and carers to cleaners, hosts, receptionists and administrators, were kind, caring and very respectful. All are very in tune to the needs of residents and families.

Mum spent her last few months there, where she was treated with compassion and dignity, until she sadly, peacefully passed away.

Following an abdominal operation in hospital, I was cared for on 'Hanbury' by a wonderfully experienced team. It made such a difference to my recovery having a lovely room with a beautiful outlook across fields and woodland, and to have thoughtfully appointed wet room as well as adjustable bed. All the staff were delightful, kind, thoughtful and seeing that, was needed to help me. I recognise that their care speeded up my recovery from the operation.

My experience with the wonderful team on Hanbury care unit was such a positive one, despite the tragic circumstances, when my Mum spent four weeks there at the end of her life. I was anxious to find the best nursing home for her needs and know I absolutely made the right choice. I was impressed by the beautiful decor, cleanliness and fresh smell of the entire facility. The managers, nursing and care staff could not have been more attentive - checking on Mum and I frequently and showering her with love and kindness. The nurses were always willing to answer questions or address my concerns about her condition and they never made me feel like a nuisance. They spent time getting to know us and updated me daily on how she was doing. Mum could not talk but I knew from the way her face would light up with a big smile when she was with the staff that she felt safe and cared for. As she approached the very end of her life I was allowed to stay and the staff were so supportive and respectful. I 100% recommended them.
