Mum spent 7 years in an assisted living flat at Richmond. The setting is amazing; from the outlook from her flat, the facilities, the staff, the food and the activities/events provided. Mum had a stroke and was moved to the care home for the last few days of her life. We could not have asked for more. The staff were fantastic with mum, and being at Richmond meant that her friends and staff from downstairs, who had meant so much to mum, could pop in and visit. It was an extremely difficult time for us, but it was made easier by the care and compassion everyone showed, not only mum, but us too. We could all visit whenever we wanted, with as many people as we wanted and even our dog got to say his goodbyes. They ensured we were well fed and watered and answered any queries we had. When mum died the staff lined up outside as she went to the crematorium and the Wake that was laid on was outstanding. Victoria and Sally listened to our suggestions and took control. Thank you all so much.

Richmond Villages is an attractive village and the care home offers 3 lounges with nice rooms. We are looked after well by the staff, who try to keep us entertained with activities including quizzes, carpet bowling and simple games which everyone can join in with and keep the brain occupied. Exercise classes are also offerd. Interesting things include visits from owls, small animals and baby lambs. Whilst my wife and I didn't want to have to move to a care home, given our circumstances I am very pleased we are cared for here.

My mother, who had a flat in Richmond Village for many years, had a major stroke and spent her last few days at the care home here.

She was looked after with compassion in a professional manner. The staff also made sure that the rest of the family were welcome and treated well.

A massive 'Thank you' to Victoria and the hospitality team for their excellent organisation and delivery of my father-in-laws wake. Having been a respite resident over the summer, he loved his time at Richmond, it only seemed fitting for us to have his wake here. Victoria was compassionate and understanding of our needs, ensuring all of our wishes were taken into consideration. She gave very helpful suggestions and then took complete control, taking away any other stress we had at this difficult time.
On the day her and her staff were attentive and ensured all guests were taken care of. The buffet and drinks provided were excellent! The compliments we received were lovely to hear and reassured us that we had given my father-in-law the kind of send off he'd be proud of. We were hosted in the main Brindleys Restaurant and private dining area as we had 80 guests.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Richmond, Victoria and her team for hosting a wake. THANK YOU AGAIN!

My mother lived on Dovedale, at Richmond Village for 8 years, following a stroke. She received full nursing care for the duration. Whilst her mobility was severely impaired, she was as active as possible, especially in her first few years at Richmond when she was a lot stronger. She joined many of the great activities and had a good social circle. My mother received consistently strong care, but as a family, we are most especially grateful for the compassion and kindness showed by all the wonderful staff in the final weeks of her life, allowing her a dignified, calm passing.

I moved into the care home in May 2025 due to my care needs changing. I wouldn't be able to find anywhere better than where I am even if I tried. My whole attitude has improved since coming to Dovedale. The level of care is 10/10. I have got to know the people on the floor and it has improved my socialisation. I am much happier day by day. We all look out for each other.

My mother has been living at Richmond Village for 5 1/2 years, initially with my father on Dovedale until he died, then in an assisted living apartment where she did need the help of the domicilliary care team, and since last June back on Dovedale when she was becoming more muddled and less confident. Throughout my mother's stay there she has received incredible kindness and support from all staff who had dealings with her from managers to face to face staff. She enjoyed joining in with some of the activities provided, having her hair done and she attended and liked most of the entertainment. Sometimes things went awry but if that happened staff would do their utmost to put things right immediately and my mother was content again.

Thank you for the exemplary care given to my mother particularly in the last two weeks of her life when that care and support was so kindly extended to myself and our family. What was of great benefit was the continuity of the staff.

My husband as lived at Aston on Trent Richmond village for 2.5 years now.
He took a long time to settle due to his dementia diagnosis and unfamiliarity of a new place. However the staff did an amazing job of helping him settle and make him feel at home. My husband stayed on the care ward for the first 4 months as he had suffered a stroke. Then he rented an apartment within the village, we purchased an apartment some 18 months ago. My husband's carers go into his apartment daily and to say it gives me piece of mind is an understatement.

I feel Richmond as been a great success for my husband and our family and as allowed me to have respite when needed. He comes home to me for a few days each week and on our return I always feel that he's coming home to his second home where he as some great staff take care of him. I come over to Richmond village every week and I have always felt welcomed and again the staff have always been very understanding and help should I have any concerns.

My mother initially went for a two-week respite stay as she had been struggling at home due to her vascular dementia progressing. Mum quickly settled as the care staff were so supportive and really took the time to understand her needs. Mum really came out of her shell joining in activities and enjoying the company of others. We as a family really feel like we've got our mum back. It's a whole team approach to meeting Mum's needs that has enabled her to make the decision to stay permanently. For us as a family, this is a wonderful outcome that mum herself has made the decision to stay. Richmond with its varied facilities offers people a chance to live a full life whatever their limitations. We would like to thank all staff for their wonderful support & care given to Mum and us.

We know Mum's dementia journey is a safer, more fulfilled one with Richmond's team to support her.

In the last week of my Mum's life, she received exceptional care.
Also, when my Mum arrived a combination of good care, having interesting things to do, and having ten sessions with one of the fitness instructors, gave her a new lease of life. This effectively gave my Mum an extra 18 months of quality life, which I'm grateful for.
Throughout, she received excellent care but the extras helped to make my Mum's stay special. Firstly, the activities team runs a wide range of activities. This is different from other care homes we looked at, where the entertainment was mainly provided by the carers.

On-site, Richmond has a hairdresser, cafe, and swimming pool (among other things) each of these added something to my Mum's life. She loved having her hair done, joining family in the cafe and she particularly enjoyed seeing 2 of her great-grandchildren in the pool. These extra facilities enabled her to enjoy fun things with the family, which was very important to her.

My Dad and Step-mum lived independently in an apartment within the Care Home Village, sadly my Step-mum passed away in April. She had terminal cancer and spent the last month of her life in the Nursing Home where she was cared for with the utmost care and compassion. My Dad visited every day and was so impressed with the care his Wife received. Sadly my Dad suffered a stroke in July while visiting his friend in the Care Home Village. The Domiciliary team was quick to recognise the signs of a stroke and summoned Emergency Services quickly. My Father spent over 2 months in hospital - during that time I had such strong support from the Village Manager, Care Home Manager, and other members of Staff. Clothes were laundered and taken to Dad in Hospital, and we were constantly helped and reassured by the Care Staff. Dad returned to the Village in mid-September. He now resides on Leadale, and the Family who have visited remark on how well he looks, the amazing food, and the very caring Staff.

I spent three weeks in Leadale following major surgery. I was cared for by dedicated staff who were caring, kind and considerate. They all work extremely hard and are positive and encouraging at all times be it day or night. The room was pleasant with a nice open view and very comfortable. The food was varied and plentiful.

My mum was a very independent 87-year-old old, who unfortunately was diagnosed with advanced brain cancer and very quickly it became very obvious that she needed 24/7 assistance. The management at Richmond responded promptly to my enquiry, my mum and I met them within days and they informed us the next day that a room had become available and she moved in days later. The nursing staff were fantastic and worked wonders with my mum. The more her brain cancer took hold the more difficult mum became but still, the staff treated her with kindness and dignity. My mum's brain cancer progression was rapid and she passed away with my brother and the fantastic nurses by her side, they were amazing.

I want to thank them all for their kindness and professionalism towards my mum's care especially in her last few weeks.

My father has been taken into the Dovedale unit for respite care. What I object to is how this happened. The hospital wouldn't release him as he was too confused to live independently, but staff from Richmond visited him in the hospital and got him to sign an agreement to be admitted to the Dovedale at £1,500 a week. How is that legal?

Very accommodating, we have been able to secure respite at Richmond Villages, Aston-on-Trent for my mother-in-law, who has dementia, on 2 separate occasions. We can not praise them enough for the professional care they provided for my mother-in-law. Staff are happy, friendly, patient and dedicated.
Milldale is a bright, warm and clean environment. Rooms are fully furnished with ensuite shower room. Food is varied and good quality.

Making the decision to place a loved one in a care home is hard but knowing when the time comes, that she will be safe and well cared for, we will not be looking anywhere else but Richmond Villages.

Having had experience with Richmond Villages Aston on Trent for the past five years, I cannot rate the facility highly enough.
To put it simply, I have slept easily every night since my parents first moved there, knowing they are in safe, capable and caring hands. The standard of care throughout the village, the commitment of all the staff and their high levels of compassion and professionalism are exemplary.
I have experienced both the Assisted Living option - ideal for relatives who need some care and support but still value their independence; and more recently, the Milldale dementia care home, where the staff do a fabulous job and are so caring. My father settled in there immediately after what had been a traumatic short stay in hospital, and it is a tribute to the staff how quickly he recovered and how happy he now is.

Everyone at Richmond - staff, residents, relatives and friends - are part of an extended family.
