Mum is a resident at Bede Village but after a short illness she used their respite facility. She was well looked after, the apartment was clean and well furnished and the staff helpful and efficient. Unfortunately after she moved back to her own apartment she needed further care. It was brilliant.
I asked for help and within an hour a care plan was in place and I could relax knowing she was in excellent hands. I cannot thank the staff at Bede Village enough and would thoroughly recommend the Village as an excellent place to retire to.

Bede really is an exceptional place, it is decorated beautifully and has a real homely feel. But the most special thing about Bede is all the amazing staff. Everyone is friendly and cannot do enough for both dad and our family, it really is a team effort. From the carehome management, nursing staff,
carers, cleaners, activity team, hostesses, chefs, gardening team, reception team, laundry team, maintenance & driving teams. It really is a special and unique place and is first class all round.
We are so grateful for the care and support that dad receives every day from all the staff and do not hesitate in recommending the carehome.

The care my grandmother received in her final weeks of life was exceptional. Nothing was too much for the nurses and the care staff. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly from the minute you walk in the door at reception.

My Mother was a resident at Bede Richmond for two weeks before she passed away. My Mother was always reluctant to go into a care home but unfortunately, due to her health, she had no option. Once she was in Bede it was clear that this was no normal care home, it was more like a 4 star hotel, the facilities,
staff, food and location were all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and when I would leave in the evening, I had the peace of mind that she was genuinely being cared for. I can not say enough good about this care home and the staff

I cannot fault the staff that looked after mum during her year stay in the Care Home before sadly passing away in December 2025. This is all staff, starting with the Management Team of Tina & Chanel, always available if required, the attentive Nursing Team playing close attention to mums daily needs
& health , liaising closely with GP & Hospital Services swiftly as needs occurred, the day to day Care Team all treating mum with dignity & kindness as a person, a friend & not simply as a patient, right through to the domestic team always engaging with mum with a smile on their face.
Sincere thanks all for taking such good care in mums final year it is very much appreciated.

Leaving 1 star only because 0 stars is not an option


I would not wish this facility on my worst enemy. Do not send your loved ones here, the service our family received was awful, and when we complained we received a response with no apology, no indication that things would change in future and

no regret for the stress that our family suffered.


The management at this Home should be ashamed of themselves and I hope no other family has to suffer what we did.

My experience here at Bede Village has been very good. After finding the suite I wished to buy management were very helpful with making this possible. My mum was a resident at Bede Village for 8 months. She was a 91 year old Alzheimer sufferer. We looked at a number of care homes and from our limited knowledge Bede seemed to be the most well staffed and caring. Mum moved into Bede in October 2024 and thoroughly loved her time there. I live in Spain
so it was difficult for me to visit on a weekly basis, however not for one moment did I ever question the care my mum was receiving. Whenever I visited all of the staff were welcoming and ensured I was updated on any change in Mum's condition. Those carers who had more of a day to day interaction with my mum showed her great respect and care when helping her with her day to day living. The nursing staff were very professional and prompt in responding to any medical concerns either Mum or we had. Mums care was beyond anything that either I or my sisters could manage, however everyone concerned at Bede ensured that Mum was at "home" was well cared for, and felt happy.

Following the death of my step-father in September 2024, we, as a family, had to make the very difficult decision to encourage Mum to move from her beautiful home in Spain to the U.K.
Drs in Spain had said our Mum was not 'safe' to live alone.
We visited Bede village and were overwhelmed by the kindness
of all the staff, the facilities available and the quality of the accommodation and the services provided.
Mum spent a few days at Bede on a trial. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay and we began the process of purchasing an apartment. This went very smoothly, thanks to the expertise of the sales staff.
Mum moved into Bede village in April 2025. She has settled in very well and is happy, which as a family, is our main concern.
Every member of staff we have dealt with has helped with any queries.
Mum enjoys having her meal in the restaurant at lunchtime with her new friends and participates in lots of the activities, which are very varied.

The care given to my mum by all the staff at Richmond Nursing Home, was outstanding. It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it that makes all the difference. The staff, were professional, kind, caring, they engaged with my mum at all times ensuring that her personal needs were met. Certain staff,
went over and above, with their one to one caring, nursing, nutritional, housekeeping, laundry, admin and managerial roles to ensure my mum's need's were not just met, but exceeded. They also took care of me when required.

When my Mums health deteriorated, we as a family had to make the difficult decision to move our dear Mum, aged 99 years into a nursing home. We are so glad we found Bede. Mums final months were spent contentedly, the care was outstanding, the team are so dedicated. We were totally supported and able
to make many happy memories with Mum, from sing-alongs to walks in the grounds, games of cards, face painting, and family meals together, such treasured memories. During such a difficult time Mum was surrounded by an environment of dedication, care and great fun and laughs along the way and for that we are forever thankful.

Because of the seriousness and rapid decline of her health due to her illness our Aunty was only a resident at Richmond Lodge for a few weeks but in that short time her family realised that Aunty had made the right decision and that Richmond Lodge was the perfect place for her.


The level of dedication,

kindness, and care given to Aunty by all members of staff, especially the wonderful medical team of nurses was immeasurable. We would like to thank you all for making Aunty's last few weeks so bearable.


We found Richmond Lodge to be a happy and very pleasant environment to be in and would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking that extra step into much-needed care.

My Mother who had always lived in her own home, moved to Bede Village in July 2024 living there until she died in Dec 2024. It is such a lovely place to take care of loved ones; staff are wonderful and have such an excellent team spirit. Mum's room was excellent and the food very good too. Nothing was
too much trouble for all the staff. As well as the excellent carers, staff from catering, laundry, and cleaners were always "popping in" to have a chat. There was always lots going on: singers, musicians, card games and, my Mum's particular favourite, local school children visiting. Mum was happy, enjoying the food, the care and attention she received. When we visited we were made very welcome. In Dec, Mum's health deteriorated and the staff were so dedicated in helping her and supportive to the family. Mum died peacefully 2 months before her 100th birthday. We take comfort in knowing that in her final months she was so well cared for in a place as "close to home" as could be managed.

My mums been here 5 months now she was made to feel so welcome and settled really well due to the staffs helpfulness and friendly manner . Have met most of the staff now and they can't do enough to help and accommodate myself and my mum .
The activities are good and I can recommend the food highly

On my arrival to the Village I was greeted warmly by all staff that I came into contact with from reception staff, restaurant, plus cleaning staff which I only met in the corridors and those walking around the village. I have found the facilities, and organised groups all to be good. I am very happy
with the experience I had since being here and find all staff to be most helpful.

I am so thankful for the support of all the staff at Bede Village, they have supported me and my parents during a very difficult time, helping with respite care twice in the last few months as both of my parents became unwell and not able to manage their care. They gave me reassurance and advice on

Mum was a resident at Bede for 2.5 years until her sad passing earlier this month. I cannot speak highly enough about her level of care. The home and grounds are beautiful and dispel the idea some have of a standard care home. Bede is a community, a team, run by excellent management and all staff care
massively for their residents. I would not hesitate to recommend it!

Care staff are very responsive to ad-hoc support. Reception always welcoming (Could it be open after 3 pm on weekends?). Lots of day activities which my mum enjoys. Meals excellent. The coffee machine is often broken/no cups- Could there be a cafe?
The grounds are beautiful, well kept, makes a difference,
some paths that are uneven could be updated. Enjoy events such as the Christmas market with lots of families visiting-maybe a summer one? Overall, an excellent place to live (village).

I am delighted to say that the quality of care and comfort exceeded our already high expectations and the attentiveness of all staff has been exceptional, not only with my grandma but also the family. It's never an easy decision choosing a care home, but if there is any home I would have to pick again
it would be Bede. I had peace of mind knowing my grandma is in good, caring, empathetic hands. All the staff knew my grandma and have always been so friendly and caring. She was a valued resident and it definitely felt like home from home for her, Bede has the best food, is clean and its management team are always available. Thank you for making my grandma's last remaining years the best.
