Like finding an oasis in the dessert.
A delightful purpose built retirement home. Extremely well furnished of the highest standard. Not cheap but needless to say very good value for your money.
On moving in I was taken back by the peace ad comfort the rooms radiated staff at all levels were most
courteous and kind. An important attitude to have as residents get older. I have decided after a busy career in aviation to spend my remaining years to reside here.
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamWow what a wonderful description of the amazing care home we have being an Oasis in the desert. It is an absolute pleasure to support you and so incredibly happy you have decided to live with us and spend time now relaxing after such a busy career. We certainly will pass your kind comments on to the staffing team . Best wishes Cara (Village Manager)

I look forward to my visits to Richmond Village. Congratulations to the staff for providing such a welcoming atmosphere.  The service is second to none. They always go out of their way to help and are cheerful, attentive, respectful and kind.

The property is so clean, modern and beautifully furnished,

somewhere I would certainly recommend to anyone needing a place for a family member. It offers a first class service.

Mum had a lovely 3-week stay in September. First time at Cheltenham having been to Painswick last year. We lost dad in February so this was first time away on her own, and it was so nice to find out that she was taken to the restaurant to sit with 'Stella' for lunch every day. She has lost a little
confidence in that she has mobility problems but am so grateful that she was taken to the seated exercise classes; she also really enjoyed the visit by the 'birds of prey lady' and also the singer :)
Mum loved the gardens which I was able to wheel her around when visiting; would be nice if that could happen with the help of the carers but understand resources and time likely at a premium.
Mum had a really nice room with a good view and the lovely staff were attentive, good humoured and caring. Have noticed other reviews and have to say we ALSO have referred to it as Richmond Hotel - it really has that feel!
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamThank you so much for your kind words, it is lovely to hear how well your Mun settled and to recognise all the activities and events we offer here, it has been an absolute pleasure supporting your Mum and really hope to welcome her back again soon. Your amazing comments will be passed on to the whole team. Best of wishes Cara

I cannot recommend Richmond Village, Cheltenham highly enough, it is a very special place.
Both of my parents suffered from dementia and spent the last years of their lives in Mandarin. Dementia is a complex and challenging condition, but together they worked with me to understand them both and to
support them to the highest standard. I genuinely felt the carers treated them both like a member of their own families and both of my parents just adored the carers. Sufferers of dementia are included in the life of the home and invited to all events, they are supported in being accepted by the carers. The carers at Richmond Village go above and beyond for the residents and for their families. I cannot thank them enough.
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamWow, such lovely words, thank you so much for taking the time to write this, it means so much to be able to pass on your comments to the whole team. It was an absolute pleasure to support both your parents; they were very much part of the family and are very much missed by us all. Thank you again. Your kind words will be passed on to the whole team. Best wishes, Cara (Village Manager)

Richmond Village is beautifully presented with delightful gardens. The permanent staff are very friendly, kind and helpful. It is unfortunate that agency staff need to be used as they seem to be less well trained and sometimes are brusque and less considerate to residents needs.
Reply from Samantha Walker, Care home Manager at Richmond Villages PainswickThank you for your kind comments about Richmond Village. We're delighted to hear that you appreciate the beautiful surroundings and the dedication of our permanent staff. We take great pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our residents. We also appreciate your feedback regarding agency staff. My sister has been at the Painswick Richmond Village for some years now, first of all renting, now owning her own apartment.
She settled in well from the start, and she enjoys all the facilities, and the kind and friendly and helpful staff.
If she feels tired, she can rest , quietly, in her own space,
but, also greatly enjoys the company of other residents, and the garden and the pool.
Some of the activities she joins in with, art, music, singing, poetry reading, films, exercise classes, talks but does not feel obliged to do anything if she does not feel like it.
being a kind lady, she will chat with other residents , and enjoys hearing their stories. etc and helping new residents settle in . As her sister, it a great comfort to me that she is in a comfortable, luxurious ! home.
Reply from Samantha Walker, Care home Manager at Richmond Villages PainswickThank you so much Priscilla for your kind words. We're absolutely delighted to hear that your Sister has had such a positive experience with us.We truly believe in supporting not just our residents, but their families too, so it means a great deal to know that this has come through in your experience. I call the Richmond Village the Richmond Hotel. It's an amazing place. My friend is in after having a hip operation and I feel I can visit and take her out any time that I want. She is free to come and go when she wants. When visiting we feel welcome and she is looking well and treated with dignity.
As
a restbite place I would totally recommend this care home.

Again an excellent home, meeting old and new staff. They are always so helpful, polite, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Help you if you want but they will let you try. From front of house the restaurant and kitchen, whole behind the scenes all work together to make ones stay excellent. This
place has cracked the nut for retirement, independent life with care if needed. Beautiful grounds, activities if you wish but also you can have your solitude. The team are excellent which reflects in the leader- well done thank you.

My mother in January, fell and shattered her ankle. After a couple of operations and a lengthy stay in hospital she went to Richmond Cheltenham for respite care as she had a boot on and was unable to do much for herself.
From the day she arrived, she was welcomed like one of the family. Her care has
been amazing with all staff aware of her needs and likes Mum has got involved in many of the activities and enjoys the social side of Richmond events. Although Mum is now mobile and able to care for herself now and thought she would return home, she has made the decision to stay at Richmond Cheltenham and continue enjoying everything on offer.
Reply from Cara Wood, Head of Care at Richmond Villages CheltenhamThank you so much for your kind words, to hear how well your Mum settled and to know she wishes to stay is such a credit to the whole team that the rehabilitation was key and to live an independent active lifestyle. Thank you again this certainly will be passed onto to all. Best wishes Cara (Village Manager)

In my direst user (3 weeks respite care) experience, this home set a remarkable high standard of service and provisions. It reflects the owner's depth of experience and awareness of the sections requirements in serving a wide spectrum of need and independent living to high dependency.
Few homes come
near to providing a 'package of care' comparable to Richmond Cheltenham. A tranquil wood setting, designed and decorated which is a delight to the senses.

My Dad was admitted for a 3 week respite following a really bad fall at end of November 24. He was in a bad state and really needed nursing to pull him through. From the moment he entered his room he started receiving love and care from the staff. As the time went by it was obvious that Richmond Villages
was the best place for him on a permanent basis. He has completely settled in and has regained much of his independence. He enjoys the carers attention and he has built very good relationships with a number of them. He takes part in a number of activities and particularly likes his fitness sessions! His family often visit him and we all enjoy talking with his carers and other residents. Dad obviously misses being in his own home but he recently celebrated his 99th birthday with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The staff were magnificent in helping us with arrangements to utilise the Linwell Lounge and even provided a birthday cake. So thank you one and all!
Reply from Cara Wood, Village Manager at Richmond Villages CheltenhamThank you so much for this amazing review, it is so fantastic to hear the love and care our staff who go above and beyond deliver is captured here, it means a lot to the team to pass this on. It is a pleasure supporting your Dad and to see his progress and independence grow. Thank you again , Best of wishes Village Manager

My mother was transferred to the care home due to illness and mobility issues in April/May 2024. The care she receives is of a high quality with much patience and kindness shown and special attention made to certain wishes. Her health is regularly monitored by qualified nurses, actions are taken where
necessary, medicines are overseen and issued as required. It is of much comfort that we know she is being looked after professionally in a gentle and understanding way. Unfortunately she does struggle with some of the meal options, she is frequently disappointed with the lack of taste, poor variety and the quality, especially in regard to green vegetables.

I spent 3 weeks at Richmond Village Cheltenham Care Section end of November/early December 2024 recovering from a hip replacement operation at the nearby private Hospital. I checked in early to Richmond Village and they arranged transport to the hospital and return to my room. I cannot praise the attention
and care I received enough from everyone at the village - the staff and nurses checking on my welfare day and night, the physio/gym and exercises, the entertainment and decorations of my pre-Christmas stay, the food and drinks in the two restaurants and cafe, the friendly attention of all the staff and many of the long term residents who all seemed pleased to be staying at Richmond Village, Cheltenham.
I will certainly stay there again when my other hip needs replacement! The whole complex is surrounded by mature gardens, well maintained and like a 5-star hotel!

My partner has been in RV Care Home in Painswick for 2 years now. It is an excellent facility with interesting and positive entertainment programmes. All the staff are helpful and pleasant and react to my partner who has Alzheimer's with respect and care. The restaurant facilities are excellent. The
spa area with pool etc, gym and hairdressing is amazing. My partner is unable to partake in some of these activities, due to his Alzheimer's, but he does use the hairdresser's which is extremely useful. Myself and his children feel he is in the best home possible in this area and we are very happy with all aspects of his care here.
