I am not able to fault the care which my wife received during her short stay. The staff were so attentive to her needs , at times I felt embarrassed that I had not been able to look after her in the same way. They were so caring and treated my wife with great compassion, which was an immense comfort to me, and the family, to know that she was in such safe hands. At all times her dignity was respected.

Review of Richmond Villages Painswick from Richard B (Son of Resident) published on 18 May 2026 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
My father was very well looked after in the Care Home at Richmond Village, Painswick, for the last 17 months of his life after he lost his mobility. The staff were very caring and built a good rapport with him. He was treated with respect, consideration and good humour and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. This was helped by a good ratio of staff to resident and relatively low staff turnover. A wide variety of events were arranged that residents could participate in if they so wished. The food in the Restaurant has generally been of a high standard. Visiting hours are very flexible and we have appreciated the friendliness and consideration we've received when visiting him and were never made to feel we were in the way. Any issues that did arise were dealt with professionally and we always felt we were kept well informed by regular "news flashes" and by the opportunity to participate in meetings involving the management, residents and relatives.

My mother Betty spent her final three years living at Richmond Village, Cheltenham. Mum really enjoyed her lovely apartment with a balcony overlooking the wonderful gardens and the excellent care that she received from the very dedicated and friendly staff. Mum also enjoyed the delicious menu in the restaurant. Mum sadly passed away on 11/02/26 and the staff at Richmond went above and beyond in Mum's final days and were very attentive and caring.
We are so glad that we chose the Richmond for Mum's final years.

Overall Experience
Our Mother has been a resident in the care home for about 9 weeks now and despite our concerns about moving here from the home she was in previously in Surrey she has despite her early dimentia settled in as well or better than could have been expected. All of the care floor staff are amazing and totally dedicated to the residents providing a great deal of support and understanding to Mum who is an amazing 97 years old! We all know that the success of any business is from the top downwards and so our compliments to a very well run and organsided facility go to the management. An excellent amount of activities each day help the day pass by easier and we look forward to the warmer months to enjoy the lovely grounds with Mum.
It is really nice to have the facilities when visiting which many other homes dont offer like being able to have lunch or dinner in the main restaurant or refreshments in the coffee lounge with Mum.

Overall Experience
My mum has been a resident at Richmond Cheltenham since April 2024 and my dad from October 2024 until his death in May 2025. They had been living independently with help from family. Accepting the need for full time care was difficult, but the hotel feel of Richmond Cheltenham made this easier. When mum moved in the consultant geriatrician said her prognosis was poor. However, they had not factored in the outstanding level of care and nursing at Richmond Cheltenham.
Even when things are looking a bit bleak because mum's condition has progressed, I can leave her knowing that she is safe, well cared for, warm, hydrated and fed. Sadly she cannot participate in any of the activities and outings on offer. However I can absorb the happy and lively atmosphere as I walk from the reception to her room, and enjoy a chat with the friendly staff and residents.

Richmond Painswick is an exceptionally good care home. The staff are wonderful and very caring and have built up excellent relationships with my father. There are plenty of activities and a welcoming restaurant with very good food.
Residents can join in as much as they like but also have the opportunity for private time when they wish. Their care home has been a great choice.

Like finding an oasis in the dessert. A delightful purpose built retirement home. Extremely well furnished of the highest standard. Not cheap but needless to say very good value for your money.
On moving in I was taken back by the peace ad comfort the rooms radiated staff at all levels were most courteous and kind. An important attitude to have as residents get older. I have decided after a busy career in aviation to spend my remaining years to reside here.

I look forward to my visits to Richmond Village. Congratulations to the staff for providing such a welcoming atmosphere. The service is second to none. They always go out of their way to help and are cheerful, attentive, respectful and kind.
The property is so clean, modern and beautifully furnished, somewhere I would certainly recommend to anyone needing a place for a family member. It offers a first class service.

Overall Experience
Mum had a lovely 3-week stay in September. First time at Cheltenham having been to Painswick last year. We lost dad in February so this was first time away on her own, and it was so nice to find out that she was taken to the restaurant to sit with 'Stella' for lunch every day. She has lost a little confidence in that she has mobility problems but am so grateful that she was taken to the seated exercise classes; she also really enjoyed the visit by the 'birds of prey lady' and also the singer :) Mum loved the gardens which I was able to wheel her around when visiting; would be nice if that could happen with the help of the carers but understand resources and time likely at a premium.
Mum had a really nice room with a good view and the lovely staff were attentive, good humoured and caring. Have noticed other reviews and have to say we ALSO have referred to it as Richmond Hotel - it really has that feel!

Overall Experience
I cannot recommend Richmond Village, Cheltenham highly enough, it is a very special place.
Both of my parents suffered from dementia and spent the last years of their lives in Mandarin. Dementia is a complex and challenging condition, but together they worked with me to understand them both and to support them to the highest standard. I genuinely felt the carers treated them both like a member of their own families and both of my parents just adored the carers. Sufferers of dementia are included in the life of the home and invited to all events, they are supported in being accepted by the carers. The carers at Richmond Village go above and beyond for the residents and for their families. I cannot thank them enough.

Richmond Village is beautifully presented with delightful gardens. The permanent staff are very friendly, kind and helpful. It is unfortunate that agency staff need to be used as they seem to be less well trained and sometimes are brusque and less considerate to residents needs.

Review of Richmond Villages Painswick from Priscilla A (Sister of Resident) published on 4 August 2025 Submitted via Website•
Overall Experience
My sister has been at the Painswick Richmond Village for some years now, first of all renting, now owning her own apartment. She settled in well from the start, and she enjoys all the facilities, and the kind and friendly and helpful staff. If she feels tired, she can rest , quietly, in her own space, but, also greatly enjoys the company of other residents, and the garden and the pool. Some of the activities she joins in with, art, music, singing, poetry reading, films, exercise classes, talks but does not feel obliged to do anything if she does not feel like it.
being a kind lady, she will chat with other residents , and enjoys hearing their stories. etc and helping new residents settle in . As her sister, it a great comfort to me that she is in a comfortable, luxurious ! home.

I call the Richmond Village the Richmond Hotel. It's an amazing place. My friend is in after having a hip operation and I feel I can visit and take her out any time that I want. She is free to come and go when she wants. When visiting we feel welcome and she is looking well and treated with dignity.

Again an excellent home, meeting old and new staff. They are always so helpful, polite, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Help you if you want but they will let you try. From front of house the restaurant and kitchen, whole behind the scenes all work together to make ones stay excellent. This place has cracked the nut for retirement, independent life with care if needed. Beautiful grounds, activities if you wish but also you can have your solitude. The team are excellent which reflects in the leader- well done thank you.

My mother in January, fell and shattered her ankle. After a couple of operations and a lengthy stay in hospital she went to Richmond Cheltenham for respite care as she had a boot on and was unable to do much for herself.
From the day she arrived, she was welcomed like one of the family. Her care has been amazing with all staff aware of her needs and likes Mum has got involved in many of the activities and enjoys the social side of Richmond events. Although Mum is now mobile and able to care for herself now and thought she would return home, she has made the decision to stay at Richmond Cheltenham and continue enjoying everything on offer.
