Richmond Villages Willaston is a Specialist Dementia Village inspired by the Dutch 'household' model and is a sister village to Richmond Nantwich just a mile away. Richmond Villages Willaston is not solely a dementia care setting. Alongside the specialist households, outstanding residential, nursing, respite, palliative and end-of-life care is provided within the 35-bedroom care home, welcoming individuals with a wide range of needs

The Village has six ground floor households, each accommodating six residents (couples are welcome) and features generously sized en-suite bedrooms, many opening out onto secure outside gardens or patios. Each also has a shared lounge, kitchen and laundry with the care and support team known as Household Assistants, on hand to help residents with early-onset dementia to be as independent as possible for as long as possible.

The first floor houses a 35-bed care home for residents requiring more advanced dementia care; here the rooms are generous and have en-suite wet rooms. Many rooms have stunning views across the surrounding fields and countryside and on clear days Beeston Castle can be seen in the distance.

Residents have access to dining rooms and lounges whilst on sunnier days the secure roof gardens can be enjoyed by all.

The village facilities include an urban spa with treatment rooms, a nail bar, a hair salon as well as accessible landscaped gardens, sun terraces and a bistro/café bar. For younger visitors there is a playground to make visiting more exciting; well-behaved pets are also welcome (though it's asked that they are kept on leads).

All household and care home rooms are decorated by a team of specialist interior designers.

Richmond Willaston will be a central hub for Creating Dementia Friendly Nantwich and will strive to be part of both the immediate community of Willaston and those further afield.

My husband arrived on the care floor over two years ago, following a lengthy stay in hospital. The care he has received has been excellent, largely due to the experience and dedication of the nursing staff. The nurse to resident ratio is very good, and each member of staff works tirelessly to ensure
good care. Carers' work is physically demanding, moving heavy mobile chairs and hoists and making every effort to get residents out of bed each day. This allows residents to make use of the outdoor spaces and patios. Staff receive ongoing training and are knowledgeable about dementia. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities regularly. Any concerns raised are addressed promptly.
The receptionists are welcoming and provide additional support.

Dementia nursing care in any nursing home is expensive, and although Richmond Village Willaston is one of the more expensive homes, in my experience , the staffing numbers and quality mean it is also one of the best.

Mum stayed for three weeks of respite care whilst we were on holiday.

We were impressed with the staff from our very first visit. The wonderful reception team, who were excellent ambassadors and who we felt made a real effort to get to know Mum and make her feel welcome, along with all the care

team. Our interactions with the administration staff were also excellent, prompt responses at all times, combined with friendly and welcoming communication.

The home itself is lovely, very welcoming and as well as somewhere nice for your relative to stay, it's a pleasant place to visit. Mum had a lovely room with patio doors to the garden, which she and her visitors enjoyed.

We are very grateful to all the team at Richmond Village Willaston for making Mum feel so welcomed and cared for. For the first time ever, we actually think she was reluctant to leave!

We hope to bring Mum back on regular basis to enjoy the dementia friendly cafes.

My Mother is on the care floor and the level of care she has received to date has been absolutely first class. I couldn't have asked for more from the whole RV team.

RV offers a wonderful, warm, and friendly environment. It genuinely feels like a 'home from home'. The staff I have interacted with

have gone above and beyond, and nothing is too much trouble. It is such a pleasure to visit, as we always feel welcome. The residents are well looked after, and I often see staff interacting with them with kindness and affection.

I would not hesitate to recommend RV to anyone seeking top-tier nursing care for a loved one.

Richmind Village in Willaston have delivered outstanding care for my mother who has Parkinsons and dementia. It's a great relief to me to know she is well looked after and that the nursing care is so good. The small things, like seeing her dressed nicely with her hair done make such a difference. The
nurses are very diligent with making sure her medical needs are reviewed and met. The dementia journey is a difficult one to navigate, and the family are very grateful to the staff for looking after her so well. Thank you.
Reply from Gemma, Administrator at Richmond Villages WillastonThank you so much for taking the time to share these kind words about your mother's care at Richmond Village in Willaston. We're truly touched by your message.

In 2022 my sisters and I were faced with the devastating decision to place our amazingly independent Mother into nursing care. This followed a stroke which caused right side paralysis.
Although diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018, the symptoms of the disease were mild and she was still safe and well
enough to live at home. The stroke changed all that and we reluctantly accepted that, despite our best efforts, we had neither the medical experience nor facilities to keep Mum at home. Placing in Mum in Richmond Willaston was the best decision we could have made. The staff across the board have been wonderful. They are caring, professional and welcoming. Requests or questions are dealt with promptly and we are absolutely secure in the knowledge that Mum is looked after to a standard that we ourselves would set with the added benefit of excellent nursing and personal care. My sisters and I are also made to feel welcome and listened to. Thank you all so much.

My mother has been resident on the Care Floor for more than 2 years. She continues to be very well cared for, which puts our minds at ease. We know she is looked after now that we are no longer able to provide the level of support she needs. Despite her advanced dementia she enjoys the activities offered
and seems content. The staff are friendly and engage with residents, and with their families. I am very grateful for the kindness the staff show my mum and other residents.

Richmond Village Wistaston Nantwich offers an excellent service for families and their loved ones. Care needs are thoroughly assessed and regularly reviewed to ensure the best possible care for its residents. There is a good variety of daily activities for the residents to take part in. The staff are
extremely helpful, professional and patient. Managers and staff communicate well with family members about ongoing care needs. Family members are fully involved in care reviews. I would wholeheartedly recommend RV as a first class professionally managed care home.

Mum has been a resident at Richmond Village Willaston for about 14months now. The carers are fantastic with mum, were very quick to get to know her likes/dislikes, the seniors are very attentive with mums care and provide the family with updates on mum on each visit.

More recently the number of carers

available to the residents has been reduced however, which has made a noticeable affect on their morale in general. Despite this the carers are always very professional, attentive and caring towards residents.

The rooms/accommodation is always extremely clean and all personal care is professionally undertaken and with exteme dignity.

I no longer worry about mum, knowing she has the support, care and comfort she needs. I would ask the facility to not cut any more carers and to look for savings elsewhere if increasing costs are becoming an issue, especially as residents costs increase each year.

Carers are very compassionate and caring towards residents. Staff are very welcoming to visitors and make you feel comfortable. If I have a query, it is dealt with pretty quickly and a resolution is normally found quickly. I do feel that there are not enough carers to help residents at times. My Mum
eels that she has to wait quite a while sometimes when she needs assistance to go to the toilet. Also, there needs to be more care and attention to residents needing dentistry, foot care and eye care. My Mum has been at Willaston for nearly two years and has still not seen a dentist. I had tried a couple of times to ask for her to see one but still it has not happened.
Overall, lovely place to live and I feel comfortable and reassured that Mum's needs are being met.

The staff and care at Richmond Willaston is fantastic. In my experience the staff show care to the whole family when we visit, in addition to the outstanding care shown towards my husband who is a resident in one of the households. The difficult decision to put my husband into a care home has been made
much easier when I can see that the specialist care he is receiving has made him happier than when he was at home. All in all I think that the staff, from the carers and managers to the receptionists do an amazing job.

As a family we have been very lucky to have found a place at Willaston for Mum. It's the nearest thing to her living in her own home. The carers are skilled at encouraging her to mobilise, socialise and eat - all important for those with dementia. The admin and reception staff are reassuring to residents
and are always welcoming and ready to offer moral support to visitors after difficult visits. The maintenance team, cleaners, caterers, entertainment staff and gardeners are dedicated to creating a safe and pleasant environment. Finally the senior carers and managers are always available and ready to help sort out issues, even the tricky ones using their extensive experience. I would unhesitatingly recommend Richmond Villages Willaston.

To focus on one month is unrealistic, over 6 months - this would be my care home of choice. Initial teething problems overcome both in households and care floor. I have both my parents at Richmond Village Willaston. One upstairs requiring nursing care and one downstairs who is a little more self sufficient.
I can not fault the care they are both being given. They have been helped to settle in with many of their favourite things and all the staff are eager to
get to know them, their interests and all their little ways.
They are cared for well from basic needs through to being stimulated well. The staff have made us feel welcome and have cared for the whole family when visiting. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend settling in a loved one who might need some extra support.

We spent a long time looking for the right place that was clean, friendly, interested in the customers needs, yet relaxed and open, where people are treated as people and not an account number.
Equally important was to find a place where the staff are valued by the home for their efforts in caring
for the residents as this is ultimately felt by residents.
Ten out of ten to the whole team who make this a special place for everyone!
