The Cedars Care Home Invites the Community to a Scam Prevention Workshop

Last Updated: 02 Jun 2026 @ 00:00 AM

The Cedars Care Home in Bourne is inviting members of the local community to a special ‘Scam Prevention’ talk at the home on Wednesday 10th June at 11am; with expert speaker James- the home’s own IT security manager.

This workshop will share key tips on how to avoid being scammed. A topical issue that often affects the elderly, James will show participants how to recognise a scam, and the correct way to respond and report them as scams are often disguised; and can occur in person, by phone, by post, by email, and even through social media.

Senior General Manager of the home Rebecca Aldred said: “We know that scammers often target the elderly because they can be more trusting, and easy targets because they are not aware of all of the technology tricks that scammers often use. We want to use the workshop to make sure our residents and friends from within the community are better informed on scamming tricks, and to know that support is always here at The Cedars, as well as with the local police.”

The Cedars is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals.
