Liberty House Celebrates Culture Day

Staff at Liberty House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together on 29 May 2026 to celebrate Cultural Awareness Day, a special event organised as part of the home's monthly dignity theme, promoting inclusiveness, acceptance, and appreciation of the diverse backgrounds represented within the team.

The celebration showcased the rich cultural heritage of Liberty House staff, with colleagues preparing and sharing traditional homemade dishes from their home countries. Staff enjoyed a variety of foods representing seven different cultures, including England, Ghana, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Italy, India, and Nepal.

The event provided an opportunity for team members to learn more about one another's backgrounds, traditions, and cultures while enjoying a day of food, conversation, and community spirit.

Kelley, Lifestyle Coordinator at Liberty House, said: "What an amazing day we had. It was great seeing the staff pull together to make this day a success for everyone."

Midhun, Care Team Leader at Liberty House, added: "I loved trying the food from different cultures. The variety was wonderful and we learned so much about each country."

Daizy, Carer at Liberty House, said: "I was amazed at how many staff we have from different backgrounds and to experience their homemade food was wonderful."

The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with excitement, laughter, and appreciation, with staff embracing the opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes Liberty House such a welcoming and inclusive community.

One of the highlights of the event was seeing Care Assistant Joyce proudly wearing traditional Ghanaian dress, alongside Care Assistant Precious, who wore traditional Nigerian attire, helping to bring their cultures to life and encouraging meaningful conversations among colleagues.

By celebrating the unique backgrounds and experiences of its team members, Liberty House continues to promote dignity, respect, and inclusion for everyone who lives and works within the home.
