Residents and colleagues at Astley View Care Home in Chorley marked the anniversary of D-Day with a day of art, music and remembrance.
Residents commemorated D-Day with a range of activities, some created poppies, paper aeroplanes, doves and watercolour paintings, while others enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking in the colourful poppies in bloom and a beautiful butterfly sculpture in a nearby park. Residents also enjoyed Victoria sponge cake and scones with jam and cream while music from the 1940s played in the background.
The day concluded with a special performance from Anna the Golden Songbird, who had residents singing along to wartime favourites including The White Cliffs of Dover, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and We'll Meet Again.
Christina Durnan, Home Manager at Astley View, said: "Residents shared stories and remembered an important moment in history. It was lovely to see people enjoying the activities, music and time spent together."
